Morphine can easily be overdosed to death as well. I think the stupidity of the general population to kill themselves on hard drugs (even legalized) is way too inevitable. Legalizing morphine is like legalizing oxicotton.
So the general population can choose to do so.

Surely you recognize the difference between prescribed opioids in medical doses and very specific circumstances determined by a physician vs being able to go to the corner store and getting a recreational dose of heroin whenever you please. Prescription opioid abuse is already a growing problem which would no doubt be exasperated in such a scenario.
Wow, someone actually had some correct info in the last 10 posts.
diacetylmorphine is a very safe substance. If someone took more than the LD50, that's their own fault.
If someone gets poisoned with a "hot shot".... not really their own fault.
Anyway, addiction is a whole other problem that needs to be dealt with and is obviously a product of our society.
People don't get addicted to drugs in ancient cultures.
The Incas aren't addicted to Coca.
Every other drug using society (so almost all of them except a very select few) have used drugs and respected them.
Thought of them as some divine gift, and/or a way to connect with the world.
We think of them as a way to escape our world. Because so many people are so unhappy with the way it is atm.
Besides addiction doesn't matter unless the drug is doing someone harm. Obviously oxycontin is different, it can cause all sorts of problems.
