He was pointing out that when people say, 'I don't like the taste of alcohol' it's implying that you don't like a huge variety of tastes. As in. A vast variety. Even saying a 'I don't like beer' is saying you dislike this huge sweeping range of individual flavours, from various types of beer and then in turn various breweries, various brands.
It's a silly thing to say. And usually a mind-set thing.
