4. Aquanina, now known as Pan, never left. Oneironaut was moderator throughout that time, but left a year~ later. he came back, eventually. Ninja and Robot_Butler never left staff. I don't remember when Xaqaria was made a moderator.

none of those people except Oneironaut were here when "the exodus" occurred. all of those people have been on staff, and the majority of them have left staff, but I doubt she was asking for a staff of everyone that had been on staff, and is no longer.

I don't know if this fits here or in Meta, but I know users with teal names used to be on the staff, what happens to get someone off staff like this? can they ever re join the staff somehow?

some re-join staff. some don't. it depends on the circumstances. the vast majority of those no longer on staff quit voluntarily. I can only think of two times someone's been shoved off because of something they did.

Shift was a dream guide. a very good dream guide. she wrote many of the tutorials we still use today, and several of the stickies in the on-topic section of the forum. Alex bought dreamviews, and claimed intellectual property of all the tutorials and material on dreamviews. Shift deeply upset by this, and started hard-deleting many of the tutorials she had written. her account was frozen, and many feelings were hurt. her account was later banned, and a site of her own created. you can find said site here.

Gh is a deceptively complex name.

Gh, as he is known, joined in 2006. because "the original" Oneironaut, who is still on staff, joined before him, Gh opted to spell his own name incorrectly.

Gh was known for his backseat moderation, aggressive attitude, and his wood-carving talents.

I don't know the full details of it. Shift was admittedly a fairly emotional character, and her first response was fairly unsavory.

Don't forget about the staff prank of 2007. Pissed off a lot of the community. That was the fire starter which led to the mass staff exodus..if I'm not mistaken. There was a thread the community created raging at asher that led to the banning of several members in it. Some of them prominent members. Wasup, being one of the banned souls.

Man of steel stood up for the banned and the communiy, told asher off and basically became head admin shortly afterward. Cloud was promoted to mod then admin shortly after that because asher trusted him previously with dreamviews cafe press store. So they ran things dynamic duo style until Alex stepped in.

Interesting stories everyone, thanks for sharing. Dv seems fairly stable now in comparison Im glad everything got straightened out for the most part.

I involved myself with them by talking to them. I would make conversation with them while they were in chat, and I would respond to their posts when they posted on the forums. get to know them personally.

getting to actually be staff takes something a little extra. having lots of friends on staff nominate and vote for me helped me get in. without them, I flat out would never have become a dream guide.

the exodus was resolved by hiring new staff. there was no real crisis or problem, other than not having staff members anymore.
so we quickly hired some new cats and got 'em up to speed. Man of Steel, Abra, and many others were hired quickly.
it was as if your 10 favorite members of the community had suddenly left. some stuck around as regular members, but most remember it as a terrible time.

Any moment where another member I know picks up a joke or an idea and runs with me on it. It might something as simple as fitting a punch-line to something I said. Or vice versa. Anything.

That bit where you realise that someone miles away that you've never met can think in rhythm with you. It's the internet and you don't expect that from it but it reminds you that the internet is a method of communication, and that communication is about people.

The Viva La thing was stupid. Sure. But it was alot of people typing the same thing because they found it funny for most about the same reasons. It was the kids on the forum being a bit subversive, prodding at the grouchy adults. I'm not saying that everyone who typed 'Viva la' was in the same mind-set, but you could tell a few were. And you realised you had allies and campadres here.

That was a good moment.

She wasn't upset by this, really. As I recall some of her work was put on the DV facebook site without credit or anyone asking her first, which she naturally didn't like (the material was removed once staff had determined that it was in fact her work, though). One thing lead to another and tempers flared. Shift then withdrew from the DVA and permanently deleted some of her posts in the process. Her account was frozen to keep her from doing this, and later staff decided she should be banned. It was all a sad business, though, with misunderstandings and mistakes on both sides.

Lol. I remember that. Did you guys go to the same school or something? And log into computers on the same network? It was something like that that made staff so 'certain' that you were Carou, but I can't really remember all the details.

It seems like it's decreased in activity just a little bit.

The viva la story sounds pretty funny I wish I was there. Well I'm glad the exodus did not totally dismantle DVs. My thanks to the staff for sticking around. I love DVs thank you everyone for making it possible.
