Rant and Rave, Cry and Complain

Minor rave: Almost getting caught up with lectures. Chinese went better today. I'm *kind of* getting it. Still have trouble remembering the characters though, but I could probably pass that test now. I think, lol

Minor complaint: I think I'm getting depersonalisation again. In the lab the other day, I got this weird detached feeling which was.... strange.
Just felt like I wasn't writing, my hand was just doing it by itself.
I got it again today and recognised the similarities to my previous depersonalisation experience.

Not sure if it's stress or lack of sleep or what. But this time it isn't caused by anti-depressants and alcohol, so it's a little concerning. Not too worried at the moment though.
I found it calming before, so I'll do the same this time I guess.

Another complaint is that foreign girl from uni is.... beautiful. That smile....
Ugh....

OTOH, an aussie girl also gave me that.... smile, today. That one that clearly shows they are attracted to you.
It's kinda funny, couldn't have been more obvious, but I would have missed it a couple of years ago.

Rant: I have to do a presentation for biology and chinese. Guess I'm gonna have to get some xanax ready for those.
Thought I was past that crap.... presentations are so pointless unless you wanna be a public figure of some sort or a teacher etc.
Guess they're doing it for the people who want to go in to research and may have to present their findings to people etc.
But.... just sucks. I can do it, but I will never get a good mark for it, even with xanax or some miracle anxiety-destroying, confidence boosting pill.
So it's basically just doing it to pass, which I don't like in general.
Maybe with practice every week I could do well at them. I guess I could join toastmasters or something. I probably should.
Not enough time though....

Thank you. :) It's been really difficult. I've been getting a lot better recently though. I'm really happy with how well I've been improving lately. It's, well, it's been great. I'm really happy with how my life's going at the moment. Even if I do complain a lot :lol:

It was blatant. I ended up going out with my hockey team on Saturday night and we had a few drinks so I was a little more open than I might have usually been and we ended up talking a little bit. My hockey team thought I was going out with this guy and I told him about it because, well, I just tell my friends about my embarrassment really. He then asked why it wouldn’t work so I listed the reasons with my final being ‘I have interest elsewhere’ and it lead on from there, him deciding to play 20Q to find out who it was (being fairly certain that it was him) and then it was all apparent and his final question proposed the concept of him returning my feelings to which I received this…

Conversation ensued after this. There’s the slight bit of awkwardness that I feel about worrying if I’m bothering him and just making a severe inconvenience in his life, something I worry about with every person when I’m becoming friends with them. Gah. I don’t even know with social interaction anymore.

My rant is a weird one. My eyeball almost hurts. :huh2: How does an eyeball hurt :lol: For the last couple of days I've noticed my right eye is open only half as much as the left. It's been very bloodshot so I wrote it off as allergies. Today I woke with a very odd/uncomfortable sort of pressure behind my left one. Maybe I slept with my thumb imbedded in it or something :chuckle: Or perhaps it's sinus related.

I hvae NO fever today :banana: My chest is very tight and I'm still coughing some, but not like before. I think the benadryl pills I've been taken dried most of everything up. I feel very dehydrated even though I'm drinking more than usual.

I'm not looking forward to taking my son to his thing. I ave no idea how long it's supposed to last.

Day 2 of my major attitude change, things started different when I woke up but I'm learning how to adjust and managed to maintain equilibrium all day today. I've noticed one requirement to maintain equilibrium is that I have to be assertive and state anything that not stating would cause me to brood on. Despite the positive change, I'm not coming off nicer or friendlier as a person because I'm not taking any shit, no matter how petty. I'm not whining or complaining though, I'm making choices to confront issues that would otherwise cause me to complain. Primarily, I'm remaining absolutely aware. I'm allowing everything that would normally cause a reaction of resentment or irritation to instead ring as a bell of mindfulness and awareness.

Well, to start out on a brighter note, I've moved back into the US, and are in tact.

However, I'm a bit pressured. SAT is coming at me, and of course I'm worried as all hell - though, I know this will pass in due time.

What's bothering me most is the fact that I can't seem to get a job anywhere I try. It's a bit degrading, filling out the same form, answering the same questionnaire over and over - it's practically crushing my hopes every time I do it. It makes me feel a tad depressed, though, here's hoping I can get one.

Wishful - Don't worry about what you're going to do with the rest of your life. What I've found is that most people don't. I've also found that "what am I going to do with the rest of my life" questions are also typically asked when one isn't happy with doing everything society says is normal, e.g. going to college, getting a stable, well-paying job, buying a house, having kids... (of course I could just be projecting here :P). Find something you like doing, and find some way to make it work. I wound up in college and am essentially getting a degree that's like "oh yeah, I have a college degree" (psychology with a minor in biology, kind of useless unless you go to grad school). Not sure what I would have wanted otherwise, and I think I'm ok where I ended up (I could have made a lot worse choices), but school really isn't my thing. I'm not bad at it or anything, but at this point I feel like I've wasted thousands of dollars and years of my life. My brother, on the other hand, decided college wasn't for him (he's smart too), went to the Fire Academy, and is doing his dream job as a firefighter. *shrugs* Just find the thing you like the most or the most clear idea you have of what that thing is, and pursue it. You can almost always change your mind.

*Exhales* I don't really know how to start this. I'm sure all of us have an idea of what a perfect life would be like, whether it's having all the new tech whenever it comes out or sipping pina coladas on the beach. My idea of a perfect life would be living in a little house, being able to hunt small game on my land, not living super close to anyone else, and possibly picking up a part-time job to fill the time even though I don't need it because my house is so energy friendly I don't have high utility bills.

It's just...I really don't want to buy a house. I know that sounds like a strange thing to be posting in here, but hear me out. I've never really wanted a house in the suburbs, living more than twenty feet away from my neighbor and seeing green (and not only seeing, but being able to interact with it too) have always been "needs" of mine (as in, it's not required for me to live, but I've noticed that if I'm without these things, particularly the latter, I'm much more prone to depression). A life in the surburbs is the exact opposite of my perfect life, with the only thing worse being a life in the city. The problem here is that for us to be within an acceptable travelling distance to our families, and have an acceptable commute to my husband's job, we need a house.

And it's really not even just that I wouldn't be as happy. Right now, we're only a few thousand dollars in debt, some for a new car and some for my education. The only thing we're paying interest on is part of the car loan. If we really had to, we could pay pretty much all our debts right now (though it would eat up all our savings). So my main point/real question is, why the hell would I pay to get straddled with over $100,000 of debt for something that I never wanted anyway? Why would I force myself into working for the rest of my life on something that in no way makes me happy? It wouldn't even just be the principle amount either- it would be the terrible interest rates that would probably be so high, well, good damn luck paying off the principle amount anyway. Add utilities to this and you're in a fine mess.

I was looking up land yesterday around our area and it was miserable. You hardly get anything for a large chunk of money, and then the people selling the land slap all sorts of restrictions over it. I mean, I'm ok following the city and county regulations on things, but beyond that, well. I figure if I buy land, it's my land, and I'll do whatever I damn well please with it.

So I guess the true problem behind all these problems is that I don't see any way out of this mess. I can either a) Go into a massive amount of debt for something I hate, or b) go into a massive amount of debt for something that I can't use the way I dream of using it. I don't really see any way of getting c) Buying something I'm actually happy with and won't want to immediately sell after buying. In all honesty, I'd be ok going into debt for C. There's really no way not to nowadays, which is stupid. I'm a big fan of living within your means, but if I did that my whole life, I'd still be living in this shitty apartment throwing money away in rent. And I think how we're getting all these stupid economical problems is because people are buying stuff they can't afford and *gasp* find out that habit isn't sustainable.

I guess if it came down to it we could find something better suited to what we want in the boonies, but that would also mean my husband has to find a new job and we wouldn't be able to visit family easily (which is important to us). So I guess it's just weighing the options.

I just find it sad that there's a large possibility of never getting what I want, especially when what I want is so little. Saying "If only I had more money" doesn't really help, except maybe at first. If only I had more money, I could buy a plot of land and build a sustainable house without much fuss. I don't want to be on the rat wheel my whole life, buying more and more stuff that gets me more and more into debt. I want to relax and enjoy my life while I'm here, and as long as I don't have huge wants and had that little plot with a little house, I could do that on little money.

TL;DR - basically I have my idea of a perfect life but I don't know how to get it, and it seems to me that it shouldn't be so hard to get anyway

It's really crazy. The thing that happened was really a tech problem, a random person was given +o in the chat. Unless a hack was involved, I don't think anything that happens after that is anyone's responsibility. And it's not like chat things couldn't be undone when everything was put back in place, which didn't take that long all things considered. So it should be considered an accident and nobody should have gotten banned for it, I mean seriously, what do you expect your users to do when you give them a chaotic environment? Automatically assume 100% orderly conduct? Of course not. It was a tech accident and now everything is back to how it was and that was that.

If only we had some kind of tech administrator, in that case it would have been their responsibility not to let it happen in the first place.

In any case the bans feel entirely random. I remember bennerman literally taking away his own +o because he thought it was a bad idea. You'll see him complain about it, as 'aleister' in the "IRC log: SornaNet #Lobby" log. So why did you include him in the bans? It feels like you don't even know who you banned, just everyone that was present and had +o for a while. Or was it because we entered #staff? In the log it seems implied that that's the reason, but it's not like any of us have received any information about it so yeah. The channel was open, which it isn't supposed to be. That's not our fucking fault. Again it should be considered an accident entirely - except if we had a Tech Administrator, in which case it would be their responsibility. If your chat isn't working as intended, it's going to do unintended things. Don't blame your users for that.

It's absolutely ridiculous. From what I understand the server turned off, and the first person in gets +O status. In this case I believe one user than Opped everyone and banned Gab.
So the only user to blame would be the one who opped all the others, but in reality no one is to blame. The fact that the server restarting can allow for this just shows what a terrible IRC system they must have going on. It's the servers fault for OPing the first person in.

The real qualm I have with this is that the admins can't find this a funny once off occurrence. It was funny, members took over for a few hours. Absolutely no harm was done......but the atmosphere had to be ruined, people had to be "reprimanded".

Again the community degrades, it's like some people want DV to fail. Had to laugh at that last line :P

My rant is trivial. Our internet went out early yesterday evening (before my sons appointment). I just figured it was out for repairs. The cable was out as well and that's usually how we can tell if it's a problem on our end (router) or the companies. Well, the internet never came back up. Hubby called them today to have them fix it because it looked like the cable fell out of the box on a utility pole.

They came out after noon and Oops. They had the wrong address written down and cut our internet/cable yesterday :roll: :bang:

I kept waking up throughout the night, thinking the internet came back up. Am I seriously THAT addicted lol When I finally managed to get to sleep I had nightmares. In one I was afraid to fly because it was too windy and there was ocean to either side of the land I was on. I've not been afraid to fly because of wind for several years. I hope I'm not going to have to regularly put up with that again. In another dream, I was a mother to 3 little kids and one of the boys was evil. He tried killing his baby sister so I nearly drowned him by using my mind alone. It was a very dark dream.

Another rant is that I'm still coughing my head off and my chest majorly hurts because of it... my ears are also achy. Blah.
PLUS, my bird is screeching his head off today :furious: I'm about to cover him up!

Yeah that's what I thought... I mean when it first started happening I thought it was just good ole classic DV silliness, wasn't till later on I discovered it was actually a shitstorm... This site totally sold out, having a name of a company rather than a person as owner has a lot to do with it IMHO.

I started reading Game of Thrones and I really enjoy it. However the amount of blood references in the IT Crowd is making me squeemish so late at night and urgh.I hate how squeamish I am.
