Rant and Rave, Cry and Complain

I don't know if that's good or bad because our grading is different.

In my prelims I got two 1's, four 2's and two 3's, which is the equivelent to about 6 A's and 2 B's, but I really don't know how i've done.. I barely done any revision for both my prelims and the actual exams, but I know if I had I could have gotten 1's in everything. Now i'm shitting it. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to tell my parents.. Hopefully i'll have done well because the practical grade (1's in all practical except music which I screwed up really badly) drags it up to a higher grade.

Gah.. at least once i've got them it's over and done with.

I also just had a total fail of a WILD. I had a nap and pretty much just fell half asleep.

Yeah, my normal grade 11 classes were based on percentages (0-100%), but the AP, or university level courses, are on a 5-point system. 3 is a "pass". Not very bad, not very good... Just a pass.

You couldn't have done much worse than me. I got a 60 on my math exam and 70 in physics. =_= I'm glad I dropped physics for this year... Man, I hated it.

My rant: I have a really fucking bad stomach ache, and my head hurts.

Just went to hand in my illustration for the exhibition a company asked me to be in.

I am socially awkward as fuck. But it was going okay, just talking about stuff casually....
Then it comes to when I'm leaving and the girl is like "so you got anything planned for the rest of today?"
I'm like "ummmm nope lol"
"just chilling?"
"lol yeah...."
pause....
"yeah that's good, coz full time work is hectic, enjoy it while you can"
"........ yeah, it would be"

"Ok.... cya on monday"
".....? oh are you.....?"
"The exhibition is on monday yeah?"
"Friday, the 12th"
"oh.... ok..... well see you Friday then...."

I walked out and just heard one of the girls piss herself laughing lol

Dunno if it was laughing AT me, or just the situation lol

Oh god.... seriously awkward as fuck. Kill me now, I'm gonna go smoke some weed I think.

When things get awkward I ask weird questions. They tend to be "What's you mum's name?" "What's your favourite disney movie?" and "Do you like sushi?"

Actually that's a lie, I became friends with this awesome guy by asking what his mum's name was. I spent the next half an hour guessing names, with him giving me the occasional letter. Give it a month and I was in his room at 12am kicking his ass at Grand Theft Auto.

You need to learn the art of small talk and rambling my friend. Just smile, say what comes into your head and be confident. It's really not as hard as you think. Especially when it comes to people you won't see again.

My complaint is that it's pissing it down and I need to walk up town to see the dentist. Then walk back again in the rain. With what appears to be no ipod earphones. Great. I wouldn't usually mind this, but I don't like walking through the rain unless it's very heavy, so I get drenched instead of that sucky inbetween stage that frizzes your hair and looks really bad. At least when i'm soaking wet my hair stays in place. Ah well, it'll smell nice anyway.

I just can't stand it tbh.

Of course sometimes I really can't think of anything to say back,
like when that girl said "enjoy it while you can coz full time work is draining" or whatever.
I just had absolutely nothing to say lol

But yeah, generally I just find it frustrating coz someone wants to talk to me about how they went to a club or some thing like that. I'm just like.... I don't care.

Most of the time it just seems like people are just talking to fill in silence.

I love frizzy hair. Honestly, I think it is the best look ever.
Only on some girls though. And when it suits them, it tops anything.

I think this is a good thing to talk about, not just for you tommo, but because I've met a ton of ppl who feel the same way about not knowing what to say, and other things.

Well there's the first thing. If you don't find it fun, then what's the point? xD I'm not saying force yourself to see it as fun, but when you talk to people, see if you can find ways to make it fun (for yourself). Even if it's just a little bit. If you do things that you find boring, then that's what you're gonna associate talking to people with.

Korley's examples are perfect. The intentional awkward questions or the guessing game. In the end, it's not so much what you are saying or doing, so much as it is the good experience you're sharing with someone else- the emotional vibes and energy. If you start getting wrapped up in what to say, you're just gonna end up being a little scripted robot with no emotional drivers behind your words. You're not doing things because you enjoy them, but because you're seeking a reaction. Bad! Which leads to the next point...

Well, if you start to develop a mindset of just enjoying your life and the people around you, you might start seeing opportunities to have fun in each situation. There's never a perfect response to anything. So just roll with it and enjoy hanging out or talking to people. You could always go off on a tangent, talk or ask about something on a new topic, etc.

People talk to fill in the silence (in my opinion) because no one likes to feel awkward. It's just one of those feelings we try to avoid. The most basic level of avoiding this feeling is having conversations that we really don't care about. Weather, common small talk (as opposed to fun small talk), etc. It's a huge leap upward when the driver behind an interaction stops being to avoid awkwardness and starts being to have fun. It really only takes one person to do this, and then BAM! Everyone's having fun.

All in all, don't take interactions too seriously. Don't try to dissect them too much unless you're doing a bit of introspection. Just have fun with em :P

I bought myself a cot yesterday and I'm not sure how it's going to work out. I may be taking it back to the store before the end of the week.
It's not nearly as wide as my air mattress, but the dog still insists on sleeping with me under the covers lol. Before, I could insulate myself from her and the fleas but that's not as easy to do now.
It has a pad and springs so it's actually pretty comfortable. But I either need to find a fitted sheet small enough for it or take the pad off because it's plastic and makes me sweat like mad.

My daughter and her friend let the males (dogs lol) in last night. They live outside and they have no fleas? How is that possible? They're big dogs so dear daughter's going to have some big piles of poo to pick up. That'll break her from wanting them inside for a few more months by which time she will have forgotten what a pain it is to have them in.

I feel really blah today. I need to get my 17 year old signed off but who do I talk to if not a lawyer? So I talk to no one :furious: As if the problem will resolve itself :roll: I also realized if I DO find someone who can transfer custody for free (yeah, right), I have nothing to prove he's my son. I sent his birth certificate and Social Security Card to Florida so my mom could get him an ID card (which she never did).
And I'm obsessing over this stuff so much that I can't do anything else. I'm irritated with myself and have lost motivation to even play Everquest2.

I suck at small talk too. My brain doesn't work fast enough. Sometimes I literally don't "hear" (or process) what someone has said for a minute or more, which is long enough for the awkwardness to set in. I don't get most humor for that reason. I usually don't get the joke until some time has passed. That's why I prefer forums :)

I just think that I'm really not capable of it. Due to lack of caring for one,
but also just how my brain works. As Zhaylin said, my brain works very slowly.

Most of the time I have to listen to what someone says, I will go through it in my head after that. Then think of the different responses I could give, which one would be appropriate etc. and which one even makes any sense.

If I don't do this, and just sort of flow with the conversation I literally end up making no sense. People look at me strangely sometimes lol Coz I am not comprehending fully what they're saying, and respond with something unrelated to what they were actually saying.

Don't worry this happens every time I open my mouth with a woman in the vicinity. I wouldn't ask a girl what her moms name is personally, Id ask her if she goes to church. Interesting conversations always ensue no matter what the answer.

Pretty much almost everything you have said the past couple posts applies to me. I deal with it by not giving a fuck and just waiting for the right person to come around. When celebrity gossip or other shit people usually talk about is abound I am quiet in the corner brooding. But the other night I meet a girl at a party that I talked about philosophy, science, religion, etc till dawn. It was the best night Ive had in a really long time(unfortunately she had a husband but when I asked her for her number she smiled said I was cute and said no, shit happens). There are girls like that out there but Id imagine they are as shy and socially awkward as me so unfortunately the burden of starting the conversation is on us.

No recall last night. ;_; Very small pieces of dreams that were half-remembered to begin with; as soon as I got to my laptop, they were already gone.

Took the drugs my doctor said to take. Now that I'm off them, it feels like I'm getting booted square in the nuts again. Goddamn it! Guess this means another trip to the doctor tomorrow :/

I ate a whole large pizza and now I'm not feeling so good... x_x

My rant is that I slept all freagin day. I woke up frequently, thought all was good. I'd come here, post, try to play EQ2 then BAM- back to sleep I went.
I did take the pad off my cot though and it was much better without it.
My sinuses are driving me bonkers. Now that I'm higher up, my face is RIGHT in front of the lower half of my window AC which is in dire need of a thorough cleaning.

Surprise of surprise is that the dogs didn't mess in the house. I guess they held it lol. They're back outside now thankfully. My little dog does not like them at all :lol:

I set my alarm for 10:00 and woke up at 12:00; I hate sleeping in all day because it feels like I get nothing done. :P

And speaking of getting things done, I'm two hours behind on my chemistry summer assignment... Gotta type and condense up ALL 200 pages of notes... >.>"

Double-post, but... My dad just came to my room to tell me that the 2-week acting course I'm supposed to take in Vancouver, about a week from now, has been CANCELLED. All our plans and shit are out the window and I'm REALLY disappointed, because that's the only thing I was planning on doing all summer! And I was hoping to make connections with Pixar and the other graphic design/art institutes out there! :( I hate this...

Why is whispering such a complex concept for some kids? I swear none of my little cousins know how to whisper, they just know how yell and yell louder. One of them spent the night at my place a few days ago and he wanted to play games on the computer, I said it'd be fine as long as he kept quite since it was midnight. Sounds simple enough but this kids would just not shut up.

It wouldn't have been so bad if he would have just kept his voice down but every time I told him to whisper, he'd momentarily turn the volume down but a second or two late he'd be yelling again.

I also hate how all these little kids want to come over to my place, I don't even do anything with them. I don't play with them (except on occasional), I don't do anything fun with them; I turn the computer or tv on for them while I just lie there on the couch or my bed waiting for them leave or going "Ya, that's pretty cool" while they jibber-jabber away. I always ask my parents to respond with "Gavin's busy" whenever someone asks to come over but they never do, they just invite them over. "But he/she was really bored and they wanted to come over and play, Gavin..." Fuck if I care, just buy them a goddamn slurpee/slushy from the corner store instead and they'll be entertained for hours.

There are only three of these munchkins that I don't mind having over because I can actually relate to them. One of them's like 15, his brother's 13, and the other kid's like 11 (possibly 12). The 11 year old's real cool though, talking to him is like talking to someone my age. The kid's hilarious and he's got great taste in women. :P He's got a really high pitch voice so he sounds like a 3 year old (or a girl :P) but it's cool cuz he swears like crazy and acts like your stereotypical tough guy and always starts mouthing off when he sees someone he doesn't like (which happens to be anyone above the age of 16).
