Have you ever had a great idea?

Have you ever had a great idea that could make a shit load of money and then found out someone else already thought of it?

I have never known of any idea to be regularly employed at all--nor ever heard of any receiving a check.

Stop being a nit pick, it's only amusing in the correct context. I thought of that when I wrote it, but I cbf'd writing it in a grammatically correct way.
Sometimes things are better when they don't follow the rules precisely.

I was only trying cpr on the thread. Whenever the soul separates from the body, one has a thing dead. Ideas are linguistic formations, and are a tool we use to effect human will, one area of which is making money, however, it is often not the most significant.

Secondly, I have heard your words before by those who cannot reason at all, that fuzzy expressions produce precise response. This is obviously not true.

The most productive and rewarding ideas are not those that are unique, but those that are used by everyone, every day.

Nothing that could be sold, but I often have philosophical ideas only to realise that somebody already had them and became very famous for it. For instance, I thought of determinism when I was like, 10 (although I don't think anybody's name in particular is attached to that one). It's as if these concepts have permeated the general consciousness of society and so seem more obvious to us, even though they are very recent ideas that took a lot of time and (presumably) thought to materialise. Then again, perhaps that's an illusion; perhaps they've been thought of plenty of times before throughout history but without the printing press were never coined, and never spread.

It's the same with maths actually. Many important discoveries seem obvious in hindsight. For instance, it's relatively easy to deduce the cubic formula after thinking about it for a while, even though that was only thought of in (I think) the 1700s and made its discover(s) famous.

Pizza hut's cookie dough with ice creame on top, then sauce. Not the same as Ben 'n Jerry's by the way.

Oh my god, Pizza Hut cookie dough is like the best food ever. You're supposed to share them, but I just think "Meh, I'm a teenager with a high metabolism. EAT IT ALL!"

And I usually get ideas when I'm in the bath half asleep, or trying to sleep. So... When I'm not quite conscious.

But it's more like ideas on how to solve things in my life, even really simple things. I love planning, making lists etc and spend a lot of time writing down ideas and "solutions" in a notebook to never ever do them

Me too. I've thought of a lot of philosophical ideas that have already been thought of. I think you may be right about these ideas permeating the general consciousness of society. The inability to record may explain it, but they could have likely still spread through conversation. Not sure though.

Haha yes! Always when I'm going to sleep I think "I'm gonna start my way to becoming an Artificial Intelligence programmer tomorrow. I will do it and work hard, starting tomorrow" or I imagine all these lovely scenes of me and a girl, everything going beautifully and then wake up the next day and fill my head with doubt and pessimism

I'll do these things one of these days....

Also I had the idea of creating an online notice board, one for every local area. By the time I was about to start making it - a couple of months after I thought of it - I saw an ad on TV for a fucking online noticeboard lol.
I've had maybe one to three other ideas, but I can't think of them atm.

The Oriental water festival uses paper for the water bombs. Simple origami books will show one how to make a water bomb.

That's probably the worst idea I've ever heard...
Doubly bad for the environment. Unless it's Bamboo or Hemp paper or something, then that would be good.
      Has someone done it already?

Yeah someone has done it. I'd post a link but I can't since I'm a new member. The whole purpose of it is actually to be more environmentally friendly, it must be made out of a special kind of recycled paper or something.

I had wondered why someone didn't come out with a version of Myspace that is nice and clean and without all the customizable shit... and then Facebook came out.

Maybe I should sue Zuckerberg for intellectual property theft. I bet he incepted my dream and stole my idea.

My idea was called iZone. I created a 22 page business plan for it and everything. I'm actually very serious.

haha geez. Well that is shit.
You know, you could still do it. Just for something else.

For example there are other social networking things like linkedin etc.

I think you usually have to create the website first though, otherwise if it's good, you'll pitch it and they'll say no and then steal your idea.

You just have to find some other thing that needs a social network. Some people that worked on facebook in the start have started up their own things, one guy made a site for investors to share research etc.

It wouldn't be as big most likely, but with the right thing you could make a few million.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Yeah I'm still thinking about it. I've talked to a few friends about something like this but I think we're just completely swamped to do anything. Taking 21 hours this semester and working weekends myself. xP
