I'm starting nursing school soon, and the college I'm going to requires us to wear ties in our basic classes (Math English etc). I own about three ties right now, and I was wondering how many did you all have.

None. I don't like to be tied down. :boogie:
Childish, I know.
Haha, I just have one. I only have a striped shirt, so should really make a point to go out and get a new shirt... that fits better too, haha
But I do have many zip ties and twisty ties :D
Only one, I haven't even worn it.
Stripey one and flowery one for suit, bow tie for dinner jacket, stylish thin black one for cool, one for my first secondary school, one for my second secondary school, one for my Sixth Form...
I fink dats all em.
I have this clip on one that's not supposed to kill you if it gets stuck in stuff like propeller blades etc. I usually borrow normal ones when I need them.
You have irrational fears.
Like fountains. They're unnatural. To force a rainbow angers god...
I have a black one and a grey and black one and a gold one. I think i'm going to end up covering the primary colours by the end of this year.
You've so far made zero progress. Keep at it though!
I forgot I have a black clip on I used in academy... :P
Well I live in Mississippi so do nooses count?
3 for me, two good ones and a regular one
I don't get in ties. I always win. But seriously I got a dark green one which happens to be lost...hmm..
I've been picking up a lot of "hilarious" 80s ties from the thrift stores around town.
Not a big fan of ties, but they are a necessary evil, at times. I only own one: a nice black one with a set of thin, navy blue-ish stripes on them. My next tie will probably be one of the stylish, cartoon-related ones that I've seen around. Maybe something with Looney Tunes characters.
I've got three. One is crazy-obnoxious print, one is subdued but fun, and one is a powerful patterned red that I rather like. Studies show that most women are more attracted to men dressed in red. :>
Also check your dress code. It may be the case that it states that you must wear a tie, but fails to specify the manner or location in which you must do so. Could be quite fun.
I rarely if ever get dressed up. Though I do own one tie, in case I have a job interview or something I need to go to.
There are 14 in my tie drawer, 1 on the floor, and maybe 3 in assorted places like cupboards or in jacket pockets maybe.
Everyone needs ties. And lots of them.
Sort out the plain one-colours first. These ought to at least be something better than nylon or some shit (because texture matters when it's a block colour). Silk or wool is kay.
Stripes should be used sparingly. If you have to go for stripes that are high contrasting in colour, it ought to be either in school colours (this is best if you've left that school waaaay behind, rather than wearing a school tie on weekends like a faget) or something irritatingly bright that you can wear with a black shirt.
Best place to get ties will always be charity shops. When old men die, their widows donate their ties. They have many and they are often interesting or weathered and plain (which is a neat look if you can't be bothered to achieve the 'immaculate suit up' look, and prefer the 'homely suit' look). And they are cheap regardless of material.
Wearing a tie is not dressing up. It is not putting a noose made by the capitalist rat-race around your neck.
It is a neat way to dress for anything ever. Put on a shirt, and add a tie to it. It completes the image. A plain shirt is like a canvas for the tie.
Killer.
Great post man, I almost forgot about getting thrift store items. I remember the last time I went, I ended up with a Perry Ellis outfit (minus the jacket and tie)for about 20 bucks. Tie hunting is going to be that much easier because I'm not going to running around buying twenty dollar ties.
