Sandman Comics
Anyone a fan of the Sandman Series by Neil Gaiman?
I've been reading "The Dreaming" (think its a spin off) and its a really facinating comic.
The problem with starting Sandman is £££, an expensive hobby to start (LOL).
Another cool comic i also love is Alan Moore's Promethea - very interesting art work and genius writing by Alan Moore "Master of Comics".
:D

I love Gaiman's Sandman series! I was skeptical a couple of years ago when several friends started recommending it because, in my ignorance, I assumed any "graphic novel" to be essentially Superman but with a new, sleeker name. Of course, by the end of #1, I was proved delightfully wrong and quickly proceeded to devour the rest of the series. It's an incredibly erudite, complex story with intriguing, well-developed characters and the art is terrific. Oh yeah, and the main character is the embodiment of Dream :-). I whole heartedly recommend it!

I still remember that day (late eighties?) when I bought the issue number one of Neil Gaiman Sandman and took the bus home.
I think I change a little bit when leave the bus, near my house...

I am a HUGE fan of Gaiman's work, especially the Sandman series. Yeah, it's expensive to collect but well, well worth it. Have you read the entire series yet? I can't choose a favorite story from the dreaming but I really enjoyed "Dream of a Thousand Cats" and, of course, "The Sound of Her Wings". His writing never ceases to stun me. If I could choose a writer to study under, it would definately be him.
I've also adopted the term "the dreaming" when describing the dream world. I thought it was very fitting because "ing" usually denotes an action and the dream world is in a continuous state of action - it's always changing.

With reading "The Dreaming" before Sandman i had the feeling that i was missing the 'bigger' picture so.....
I just brought the Volume 1 of Sandman "Preludes and Nocturnes" YAY! :D
Another expensive hobbie, but this seems worth it.
I love the opening lines "Wake up, SIR. We're HERE."

hehe--one sig I use is "You died, let me help you up." from Sandman. It's an amazing series, and ends extremely well (not to start into spoilers).
Promethea also rocks--I've read the first three collected editions, and am waiting to find #4 in paperback soon (seems like it should be out, I think the series has ended now). As a writer and student of literature, the whole metatextual schtick is like heroin for me :D
