    Thread: First Night

      First Night

      Last Night was my first night trying to do induce a Lucid Dream. I tired a WILD at about 1am because i was not really tired till about that point, then i had an alarm wake me up at 4am to try a WBTB.

      Before i went to bed initially for the WILD i started to become aware of all these feelings that are attached to falling asleep and getting in to these different stages of sleep. My only problem is that i would get so excited every time something would happen and ruin it.

      At one point i go so far as i felt a bug walking on my arm for about 10 seconds. Once that happed all i could think was that sensation. After about 10 more seconds of this bug feeling, i could not help to grab for it and see if was a real bug. There was no bug, it was just a sensation! As i tried to fall asleep again, i started to feel those bug feelings later on on my legs. I was able to avoid touching those, but i would get so excited my heart would be racing. Then i assume i eventually feel asleep.

      Before i feel asleep, i had my mantras of "I will know when i am dreaming" "Help me know when i am dreaming" "I will perform my reality checks". I never got to perform a reality check right before i feel asleep because i thought i would ruin was was going on.

      Any Ideas, or anyone else have these bug sensations?

      Continuing on to the WBTB,
      I woke up and went to the bathroom and took a sip of V8 vegetable juice and hopped on to the the computer and checked DV so i could remember how to induce a WBTB. After i felt comfortable memorizing what i needed to do, i tried to go back to sleep after about 15 minutes. At this point as i am trying to remember, i cant really remember what i did as i tried to go to sleep again. I remember crawling in to bed and repeating my mantras over and over, but that is about it.

      Near the end of my dreaming, i was dreaming of the old man from that 70's show giving me a ring which seemed to be a wedding ring of some sort. I placed that ring in some king of box to the left of me, which i think i was moving in the real world because i hit my wall...i think. When I hit the wall, i kinda woke up, but all i could think is that a CD or something of that nature fell off this box and on to the floor and i should pick it up. Then I kind of woke up.

      Just yesterday i started doing my reality checks frequently during the day. I have change my desktop wallpaper to a dream sign that i would recognize. I have this sticky program that pops up every 15 that says "You are Dreaming, Take control." And i have also made a voice recording of my self that plays every 15 minutes when i play my video games that says the same as the sticky.

      To me this is really all kind of strange. I would really appreciate any advice any of you have as i continue on to my next week. Thank you!

      Also, which i forgot to add which might be very important. Before i got to this bug sensation stage, i had many color full images that would be constantly moving in my mind. I found one image i was able to reproduce and keep my mind off of what was going on was this strange black, grey, and white spinning thing. I found starring at and concentrating on making this thing keep spinning was keeping my mind off what has happening and helped me fall deeper until i started feeling sensations.


      Also as a quick question, at what point doing all of this should my eyes be open, and at what point should i close them. I have been reading many stories of people opening and closing their eyes at different times.





      Common Hallucinations.
      Swirling Colours
      In early hypnagogic hallucinations, swirling plasma is a common image. These are usually very dull colours, blue and red are common. They may or may not follow a pattern. Some people report a tunneling effect with the colours, other just report swirls. These are usually not recommended to focus on because they are not being built in the same subconscious as your dream.


      I assume that is what I was seeing when I saw that spinning black and white stuff?

      It appears that you were seeing HI, the images you see while falling asleep. Also strange sensations are common while attempting WILD, many of these sensations are uncomfortable and this is just your mind testing if your asleep or not, you must resist the urge to move. Also I believe you mentioned reverse blinking, a technique to help with WILD, its very simple and all you do is open your eyes at the end of each breath. It seems you were close to completing a WILD, if you feel you are in a dream and everything is still black, attempt a reality check. Good luck with you WILDs.

      Im really stoked to get some feedback! I really appreciate it and hopefully i can try again and be successful tonight. Also i will try a FILD instead of a WBTB and see where it takes me. Thinking about my past, and before any previous knowledge of LDing, i was able to DEILD many, many, many times with out even realizing what i was doing, i just like going back to awesome dreams =]]]. I'm really hoping it will come naturally.
