Hi, I'm so glad I found this site, I didn't think lucid dreaming was anywhere near some kind of discipline. Apart from an episode of Star Trek Voyager that touched the subject I had never heard of anyone else who had ever done this in real life.

I had flirted with it when I was around 10 (I'm now 22) with some success but gave up on it because eventually I only found myself waking up everytime I came to realise I was dreaming. Over the years since then I had mostly forgotten about the practice save some accidental lucid dreams where I always woke up as soon as it dawned on me that I was dreaming, until today... I took a nap this afternoon and had a dream where I was on this acid trip or something, feeling really odd with colors and shapes getting all distorted around me, then I realised I don't do acid so I became aware I was dreaming. Instead of waking up however, I was able to remain in the dream for reasons I'm still trying to figure out. At first I just didn't know what do to about my lucid dream (I was just so surprised I had managed to remain asleep) but I quickly figured I should at least get out of the house where I currently was. I then tried my hand at flying, something I used to do in my childhood lucid dreams, and clumsely(sp?) got off the ground a few feet. I did some other stuff and then gradually lost my lucidity and woke up.

Sorry for the long story, I just felt like sharing this experience. I really didn't expect to have one this soon since I hadn't tried in so long. Although this time was pure luck I look forward to perfecting my habilities with your help.
