      Hey

I am so happy that I found a forum on dreams. I've been interested in dreams since I had this strange incident in 6th grade. One day I could just tell the future. I could vividly see it. My friends always used to ask me what would happen next and it did happen. Then it stopped. Once I got in the 7th grade I could see the future again, but this time in dreams. At first they were clear, then the last part of the dream that I could remember came true, then they became puzzles. It was pretty cool, until I thought "What if I could see really far in the future about myself and family." I became very scared because I did not wish to have that knowledge. Then it stopped. Then in 8th grade I totally forgot that I even had that power before until one of my friends reminded me of it, then I remembered everything. The 9th grade was the last time that I could ever tell the future and during that time it rarely happened. I think I got that power from my mom. A few times she tells me that sometimes she has dreams that come true. But then again the more I hear people talk about this subject, it seems that everyone has it to some degree, just maybe not as strong as mine used to be.

Anyways I came across this site wondering what Lucid dreams were. I see that it is defined as "being aware that you are dreaming" or "being able to control your dreams". I guess I have been having Lucid dreams every time I go to sleep for the pass couple of years. I am able to tell the difference between the real world and the dream world because the dream world feels different. Each time I enter the dream I know that I am dreaming. Just that I am rarely able to control my dream the way I want it or sometimes have free will. Usually when I gain my complete free will, I start to wake up or my dreams start going random. Then in my dreams I'm thinking, "Aw man just let me control my dream for once."

Overall I hope I have fun here.

      Welcome, DKN!

That future-seeing stuff sounds freaky! It seems that a lot of our members (myself included) had their first LD experiences when fairly young, I'm thinking that younger minds are more open to that kind of stuff, and maybe it's a little easier at that age than trying to learn it once you're an adult.

Your first definition -- "being aware that you are dreaming" -- is truly lucid dreaming. Being able to control your dreams is sort of the next step. I know what you mean about the dream world "feeling" different than reality -- that's often how I know I'm dreaming, though I apparently don't have LDs as often as you -- most of my dreams are still the ordinary variety where I'm just along for the ride.

As far as controlling my dreams, that's kind of hit-or-miss as well, so don't feel bad. I find that it's usually fairly easy to control my own actions, even to the point of defying physics (like flying), but controlling the dream environment is much harder.

But stick around, and read the tips you'll find on the site. Everyone here is quite friendly and helpful, and I'm sure you'll find some methods to help improve your dream control, or whatever else you'd like to do. Ciao!

No. We use all our brain power. Good lord, the day I find that commericalised bastard who used that so called "fact" to advertise his genuis-program thing, I will kick him in the head. Repeatedly.
