      First attempt

Hey this is my first post! Had a dream two nights ago where i became semi-lucid for a moment before drifting back off. After i woke up i was quite interested so searched on google and here I am. All yesterday i read as much info on here as i could, it is so interesting! My dream recall is probably below average but I thought I would try WILDing. I went to sleep at 12 and woke at 5am, went to the toilet and had a small drink before lying back in bed. I often find it quite hard to sleep so didnt want to stay up for an hour like others. I lay in bed and started counting "one" "i am dreaming" and so on. After about 300 i felt like I was floating but nothing else. Once I got to about 500 I started seeing slight moving patterns in my eyelids, very slight. My breathing started to get not as smooth and I felt my body getting very stiff so I relaxed my body a bit and then the visuals dissapeared. I counted to about 150 and got the visuals again but my body felt so rigid like a plank so i relaxed and same thing happened again. After that I gave up and tried to sleep. I didnt hear any noises like others explain just a slight floating sensation and very small patterns. Does this sound like I might have been close? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am going to try again tonight even though nothing happened I am still very excited and cannot wait to have a full lucid dream!

      Welcome to the community Ferret

Well you may want to read our WILD tutorial. Sounds like you started experiencing hypnagogic hallucinations. I get that floating feeling often but it's all down hill from there for me. Maybe next time you should try just "letting go". I mean when you start hallucinating, go with the flow and don't get too caught up in everything. If you ever experience sleep paralysis, picture yourself wiggling your way into a lucid dream.

I would also read the Dream Control tutorial to help you control content and gain clarity so you can have the best damn dreams.

      Good luck

What you have experienced were the first signals for sleep paralysis, so you might have been close to a lucid dream. SP (Sleep Paralysis) feels different for everybody, you might never hear anything and so on, it's very individual. For me it is for example getting a rapid heart beat and being pulled threw a lot of images. when you get to SP, stay calm, ignore everything that happens, simply observe and wait for the dream to start.

Don't try to do anything at that stage, also not to relax or something. In fact, SP can feel very uncomfortable sometimes, but try to ignore it and stay until the dream begins.

      Whish you good luck tonight

      Cheers

Get your dream recall up. Just forget about lucid dreaming at the moment. Focus on getting your dream recall up, then start practicing WILD'ing ect.

      Good luck!
