Thread: How I became Lucid 7 times in 2 months (full of cool links!)

Hey guys, so i've been around these forums for a few days now and I'm loving them. Soo, I've been LDing for about 2 months now and I already got 7 nice lucid dreams and I am remembering dreams every night and not to mention having crazy fun dreams. So I hope this helps the beginners since I was one not to long ago

Before you do any of these make sure you have a dream journal! And every night before bed say, I'm going to remember my dream over and over.

Vitamin b6 = Vivid Dreams

You need Vitamin b6 in your system so your brain can make serotonin (which makes you happy and excited: good for vivid dreams) and Melatonin (Which makes you sleepy: good for passing out) So here is a cool link with a bunch of foods with B6 in them! http://drbenkim.com/nutrient-b6.html
If you want a large amount of B6 in your body drink V8 (that vegetable juice) which has a good amount. Drink some before bed. Of you could do the cheap way (which I do) and just go to your local drug store and grab a bottle of B6 pills which contain 100 mg of B6 but do not go over 200 mg of you could become sick :O

Sleeping Well

Make sure you do not go to bed too tired, it will effect how you feel when you wake up: groggy, and not in the mood to remember dreams Also doing drugs and drinking alcohol will greatly effect your dreams negatively, especially if you want to go lucid. I go to bed at 11pm every night and before bed I take a shower to wake up slightly. Make sure you relax your body.

Dream signs and reality checks
Do not ignor these steps! These are important! Find your most common dream signs: it could be a feeling or something you see. i always see military camo that's blue, white and black. You can also create dreamsigns by thinking about something a lot before bed. For example I always think of this dream character i invented that I named Sarah, and in my first lucid dream she was wearing the military camo I always saw! She even reminded me to reality check.

Reality checks are simply looking at the world around you and trying to figure out if you are dreaming. Electronics usually will not work at first because in your dream you just figure that they will work the way they are supposed to so if your brain is not concentrated on how they work they won't. Clocks will always be wrong (Time doesn't work in dreams) mirrors will show and skewed version of yourself or will be something completely different. My favorite reality check that always gets me lucid is looking at my hands. For some reason they just don't seem right in my dreams. Also After every reality check it real life I look at my hands and rub them. When you rub your hands in your dreams it will stimulate your imaginary senses and make scenes brighter, so if you reality check in your dream and then rub your hands everything will become more clear which is like another reality check.

Here is a weird one that always happenes to me yet I have never read this anywhere so far... when things become dark in my dreams I suddenly realize I am dreaming since I don't pass out randomly in real life so i just rub my hands and say I'm dreaming and voila: LUCID! Just don't stick to reality checking for a long time or you could wake up. Personal experience talking here.

Practice using your imaginary senses when going to bed aka VILD

This will not only help you transfer into a dream world but it will make your dreams more intense. Today I woke up thinking I was doing something I wasn't but for a second I thought I was, creeeepy.

Take breaks from trying to lucid dream, but not reality checking
I've had a couple lucid dreams on nights I don't try and lucid dream. I think because of the stress involved sometimes of trying to force a lucid dream will get you to not have a vivid dream. Take breaks But reality checking every day is very important!

Read your dreams before bed
sounds lame? Yeaaaa, but I do it. It helps you bring yourself back to that moment. I find it helps. I got two dream journals, one for morning writing, and another one to re-write my dreams more neatly and fill in something that I may have missed plus add things like textures, sounds etc.

Talk to people about your dreams
i got a friend who we constantly talk about our dreams and lucid tech's with. It gets you more excited about dreaming. These forums are great to. keep posting your dreams.

I'm interested in dreaming quit a long time, but this is the first time that I read about vitamine b6. I have a strong feeling that certain food can help with dreaming. However untill now I havn't experimented with that.

I think I gonna make it a part of my dream journal for a while.

There are threads around there that cover everything from Galantamine and B vitamins to Apple juice and chocolate. There is a strange tendency for people to want to eat their favorite delicious foods in the middle of the night. Any excuse for a midnight snack, right?

"My favorite reality check that always gets me lucid is looking at my hands." This one is the one i always uses. I got a chock the first time i saw my hands in a dream. Theres no way to miss getting lucid that way!

Well, no need to start an experiment anymore. It's all there. Just read some posts and it seems that I'm going to drink a lot of applejuice tomorrow.

Yes, the hands routine does pay off. I remember one of my first RC's in a dream where I looked at my hands and one of my hands was my alarm clock haha. Lets just say things clicked and I took off like Neo ;D
