      My WILD Attempt

I just made my first strong attempt at WILDing last night, due to normally being too tired to make the effort, and was wondering how close I made it.

I basically layed down as if to go to sleep and concentrated on... Being concious I suppose you could say when suddenly my body felt heavier and less awake. Next I became incredibly uncomfortable which I remembered reading you have to ignore, as that's your body testing you or something like that?

Shortly after this those feelings of discomfort suddenly disappeared as I felt like I was.. almost shoved? Into spongy darkness.

It was at this point I felt like I wasn't in my bed any more but could still sort of feel where my body was. I began to hear the general ringing you experience sometimes turn into a static sort of ocean wave crashing sound, and as it roared higher I felt as if my body disintegrated O.o.

At that point the only last link I could feel between anything normal was my breathing, which I somehow retained through the process of losing all feeling or awareness of my body.

So is this reasonably close? It sort of felt it, I feel my focus on still breathing held me back a bit.

Very good! You got all the way to the beginning of hypnagogic hallucinations! I'm not sure what to do about the breathing (just a noob myself), but you were very close! Keep at it, you'll be LDing in no time!

      oooh guau! congratulations!
but what happened? you fell asleep after that?
Next I became incredibly uncomfortable which I remembered reading you have to ignore, as that's your body testing you or something like that?
this happened to me, yeah, you have to ignore it, because if not, is probably that you fall asleep faster, inconscously.
      but congratulations.
      keep trying
the interesting thing is that I felt that discomfort when trying WILD at night first going to bed(harder to WILD because no near REM)

It sounds like you were getting close. The furthest that I have ever got was some mild tingling and some weird noises, but that was all.

You were so close! What happened? Did you wake up or fall back to sleep?

If you wake up from this, just relax and try again. You should slip back into this state easily, closer to a dream. It isn't abnormal to bounce back and forth a few times before you can actually enter a dream.

Be wary of false awakenings, too. Some people start their dream right where their WILD left them, lying in bed with their eyes closed. When in doubt, do a reality check. Even if you move to RC, you can still relax again and easily slip back into hypnagogia.
