      Welcome to dreamviews!

Yes that could very well be used as a reality check but I suggest that you have a backup RC as well. Just check the time, look away, then look right back. Good luck and I hope that you will have a lucid dream very soon!

Yes, you can use the time on your phone to RC. Just remember that it may take quite a few checks before you notice a drastic change in the time. Time always makes sense in my dreams so that isn't a reliable check.

Don't allow yourself to become too excited or you may actually lessen your chances of becoming lucid. And don't be too discouraged if it takes you a little while to have one or if it's very short.

It took me several weeks before I had my first lucid dreams and they only lasted meer seconds. Of course it's different for every person.

I hope you enjoy your stay here! Feel free to ask me questions if you'd like!

Okay, Thanks, I have other RCs aswell like the hand one and nose one just incase.
Does how tired you are effect how you dream? Like if you are more tired is there less chance of it being a lucid dream or does it not make any difference?
I will definatly not give up quite yet because everyone on here says its so rewarding And I should calm myself down abit, I think I will have in a week or so lol

Cell phones have been reliable both for the morphing of text and also light. What I would do if I were you is check to see if your phone lights up when you hit a button on it. If it doesn't, you're likely dreaming but if it does turn on, then move on to recheck the time.

I suggest checking the light first because that check has often failed dreamers but it can still be used as a check.

To answer your question about being tired, I don't know but what most of us on here would probably know is more sleep=more dreams so if you are really tired, you may have more dreams. If you have recently been deprived of sleep, your REM may need to catch up leading to more vivid dreams. (Please don't purposely deprive yourself of sleep).

I hope this helps. Welcome to DreamViews

By the way, I would make a goal to have atleast 1 lucid dream a month. I did and now I have around 4-5 a month. I got mine within a week or 2 (beginners luck) but it has taken some other people a several months. Good luck.

I use my phone all the time for RCs! I have words on my home screen that say @l!c3 Cu||3n! So I try to make the letters rearrange to make better sense. Then I either read my digital clock or wait until my phone goes to sleep and then check my reflection in it. I do the hand RC too lol

Yup, definitely a good RC. To increase your odds of becoming lucid faster, I would recommend combining your RC's with another sleep technique, such as WILD, MILD, WBTB, etc. That way, you're not just relying on pure dumb luck. Check out the tutorials for more info. Good luck!

Yes, you will feel that your waiting was worth while once you have one. Though my first one was only like 10 seconds long, I had the most amazing sensation go through me. It was like butterflies, only they started in my chest and spread. I really can't describe it. I too, hope you have one soon.

And I don't know if being really tired really affects your dreams. If you're really, really tied and lacking sleep your body might keep you in deep sleep and reduce your REM periods. I really don't know, so don't hold me to that.

Well, if text changes in a dream, and your cellphone has text on it, then logically it should work as a RC. :p

Anything with writing on it should work, including but not limited to books, signs, and computers. I stay safe with the finger through hand reality check, as it is easy, convenient, and inconspicuous.
Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

Thank you so much for all of your replys
My phone also has writing on also so I have plenty of thing to check for
I didnt have an LD last night but I woke up early to go to the toilet and thought that would be a great oppertunity to try to do a wbtb (I think, I keep getting muddled up which is which) but that never worked either. I woke up again and then thought I wanted to try SP so I got comfortable and tryed to stay still. I kept swallowing and only realised when I read about it today that you shouldnt do that, my knee did twitch a few times, I dont know if that means anything lol
Now that I have read abit more about it I might try SP again tonight
