      Hallo~

Hey everybody, it's great to be here

My name is Rhian, I'm 18 and I'm Welsh. I'm a bit of a nerd and I like Celtic languages, linguistics, philosophy, psychology and poetry. Also of course, lucid dreaming. Although I have not had one yet! *sigh*

I've always enjoyed sharing my dreams with people because they've always been really wacky. A few months ago I remembered that lucid dreaming existed, (having played a Japanese video game about lucid dreaming - oops!) and I thought I'd give it a go.

So far I've had one 'almost' lucid dream, where I felt myself becoming lucid, but I was scared so I woke myself up. Later, I had a dream that I was having a lucid dream, and since then I became quite sceptical about it. (I told myself if I ever had a lucid dream, I'd fly - and it was the first thing I did. It felt like trying to run underwater! When I woke up I knew it was just a dream of a lucid dream because upon reflection I thought, "I wouldn't have done that". So, I don't know.)

I guess I want to prove myself wrong, and have some fun.
Nice to meet you all. Sorry I went on a bit of a rant there

Welcome, I've had about 4 lucid dreams in my short lifetime, and only in one did I actually try to do anything interesting. It's very scary to me too to be in a seperate world and not knowing if when I do something stupid like punch my principal if I will never wake up and it was actually real. Welcome though, these forums are very very interesting.

Thank you very much, you guys!

Well I do hope to prove myself wrong. It'll be a great day (or night?) when I achieve that.

Thanks for the link, Walms! Yeah, the game is called Yume Nikki (or Dream Diary in English) and it's quite spooky.

I just remembered another 'dream of a lucid dream' I had, once. I spun around and around and shouted "more lucidity!". But again, when I woke up I thought, "that's not what I would have done" regarding the situation of my dream. I hate this :/

Welcome, I'm new here too but have had several lucid dreams, all within the past 6 months or so. I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds them scary at times, but I've also found a few of them (so far the minority) of my dreams, rather enjoyable. I found the attempting to fly quite difficult in one I had earlier today, which I struggled to wake from, and awakened in a state of anxiety, almost fear, as I couldnt seem to wake!! How did you manage to wake yourself from your dream? I sometimes find the dreams make me feel trapped, but I have found one occasion great fun. As I'm almost the same age as you (21) I would assume you would've enjoyed the dream. I found on one occasion when you realise you are lucid, that if you say aloud what you want to imagine in the dream it appears. I had one dream which was almost like a gangster movie, I imagined women, a car chase, a brawl which I won, and found myself running around the streets of New York or somewhere, which was great fun!!

Try saying aloud what you want and it may appear/happen, but I have a question; How did you manage to wake yourself, I find this can be a scary struggle to regain consciousness!!

      Hello
Being able to wake from dreams is something I've been able to do ever since I was a child. But it's only happened in dreams where I realise I'm dreaming, obviously. As best as I can describe it, it's just willing yourself to wake up. It's like some inner energy, and it feels quite physical when you sort of 'push' yourself out of your dream. That's it, really.. nothing particularly special I guess. I do struggle sometimes though, if I'm feeling really uncomfortable in my dream and I try to wake up, the more scared I am, the harder it is. I admit it can be scary.
As far as I know, though, I could just be waking up naturally anyway and my brain is incorporating that into my dream by making 'dream-me' want to wake up. (As I've said before, so far I've been quite sceptical since I've had soo many dreams about lucid dreams).

Thanks for the tip - the last 'lucid dream dream' I had, I couldn't 'summon' what I wanted. I suppose I was just willing it to appear silently to myself. I will say it out loud next time! And your dream sounds really cool! Hehe

Welcome, i'm relatively new here too and when i started LDing i used to have quiet a few dreams about lucid dreaming without being lucid, just make sure you do enough reality checks and make sure you do them thoroughly and really question your awareness.Good luck

I can relate to this ability, Glaw. When I was younger, I often experienced very vivid and somewhat 'lucid' dreams - some of which were harrowing nightmares - that haunted me for nights on end. In light of these unpleasant experiences, I developed my own 'blinking technique' wherein I would close my eyes extendedly and if I were fortunate enough I would be relieved of the terror. Although, there were incidents where this technique proved unreliable and flawed, resulting in me being forced to put up with the nightmare - with all the horrors that entailed!
