Introducing Alovia

Pleased to have found this place!

I named the girl that is always in my dreams Alovia. Alovia means daughter in Basque which is a very old language.She only sort of looks like me on certain angles and in certain lights. I am 26 yet most of the time she is between the ages of 8 and 18. I dont know why, maybe my sub-conscious doesnt realise I grew up!

I had plenty of lucid dreams as a child and flew a lot. I had some amazing ones when I was trying to quit smoking thanks to nicotine patches! I also sometimes find myself narrating whole books in my dreams. The craziest dreams I've had were due to anti-depressants but since I finished treatment with them, I have found that I just cannot lucid dream anymore. :cry:

So that's why I'm here. To try to re-learn what I have always done automatically.

I am not particularly religious but deeply spiritual. I am not very well so I spend my days writing, drawing and singing when I am up to it. I am currently reading Bertrand Russell's History of Western Philosophy, Grimm's fairytales and have just discovered the teachings of J. Krishnamurti.

Hey Alovia, and welcome to Dream Views. It's great that you have been a natural lucid dreamer, it should make re-learning it a bit easier I should think. :wink: Also, congrats on being off the meds...and don't worry, there are plenty of people and plenty of information at your disposal here to help you to regain what you have lost. I have learned so much in my short time here at Dream Views and I hope you can benefit from this amazing place as much as I have and the rest of the DV lot. I find it so interesting that the girl in your dreams is alot younger than you are, maybe you are just young at heart! As am I. I'm 22...but often I am quite a bit younger in my dreams. I find the story about the dream 'Alovia' quite interesting - were you physically in the dream yourself, and she was a separate character?
This sounds similar to a similar experience I've heard somewhere..
In fact, I vaguely recall an old dream where I met my future children :shock:

Nina, good to meet you! I thought maybe the reason I was dreaming myself younger was because I did so much more at that age. New learning experiences and such. Maybe our brains havent quite sorted through it all yet! Thanks so much for the friendly welcome, it really makes a difference!

Placebo, glad to meet you too! That is amazing that you met your children! I think I've had dreams like that too who knows which ones may be prophetic!?
It's a wierd thing, the dream me, Alovia. Sometimes we are one, I look down and I am in her body and yet if she/we look in a dream mirror- she doesnt look like me all that much. Most of the time though, I am watching her from the outskirts of my dream- either above or from the same level. It's strange because I can feel my real eyes staring as I watch the dream. You know how sometimes when you find yourself in a trance, staring into nothing your eyes widen a little? Well that's how my real eyes feel when I'm watching Alovia in a dream. Like they are a little wider and in a staring trance. Strange eh?

I cant say that she is me though. Maybe a part of me. She knows things that I dont and is braver than me! She tells me things but not directly. I want to be able to have a conversation with her one day. Has anyone else managed to speak to their dreamselves?

I think you're probably right about Alovia being a personality in yourself.
Almost like a dream guide - perhaps she is a dream guide
Either that, or your subconscious' personality

I would love to ask her! She is so hard to pin down. She's usually busy searching for some kind of object or some kind of experience or wandering around with the vague intention of reaching a destination! I would love to properly talk to that girl!

I guess her being a dream guide makes sense- she's always teaching me things. I would like to try to draw her sometime. Bring her out into reality and see what happens. I'm not sure if she wants to be captured though! I would hope that it wouldnt scare her away.
