      Only Lucid in Nightmares

      Hi everyone,

I just recently found this site when I was researching sleep paralysis...I have it quite often. The first time it happend, I thought I was paralyzed and that no one was going to find me until the morning. I could hear people in the hallway, but couldn't move or even control my breath. Now, I kind of like it...

Anywho, I've been having lucid dreams all my life...but unfortuanly, I it only happens in nightmares or in sexual dreams. It's like I can feel my heart racing, and then all of a sudden (in nightmares), I'm so frightend, I know it can't be real. It started that I would realize it was just a dream and wake myself up, but since then, I've been able to change little things and walk away from whatever is scaring me. Once I even changed the whole location and had a normal dream after that (non-lucid). In sexual dreams, it happens near the end, as I realize that I don't usually even know whoever I'm with, and I kinda freak out. I guess my dream sign is fear....

For the last 2 weeks, I've been trying to get lucid with no luck. I remember my dreams almost every night, and can't figure out why when I'm in the dreams, I don't realize it. My dreams are always crazy and pretty unrealistic, but I think while I'm dreaming I just justify everything.

Well, I hope to get to know you all, and hopefuly will have some lucid dreams to share. I'm going to keep trying...this all sounds like the coolest and craziest stuff ever.

Welcome to DV and enjoy the site. Check out the tutorials for induction techniques My advice is to start a Dream Journal if you don't have one already, it can be online like some members here or in a notebook. You can do reality checks during the day such as pinching your nose to see if you can still breath or seeing if you have more or less than 5 fingers. Do a couple of RCs just incase some fail and try to do this as many times during the day as possible. The idea of this(DILDs) is that this habit will carry over into the dream and you'll do a RC and realize that you're dreaming. There are still more methods to learn about, so, enjoy Finally, check "Explore the World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBerge. I think there is a link to it after the forums and if I recall correctly, it was on some website called scrabbs or something like that. Have fun and hope to see you around

im actually the exact same! i had lots of nightmares when i was little and my parents were getting sick of it, so i just started changing my dreams and POOF no nightmares.

for me, what's different, is i normally only remember my dreams if they are scary/ stressful, although i can normally always remember how i felt in my dreams. while dreaming, though, if it's not scary, most of the time i just let my mind babble for me because whenever i become lucid i always end up waking myself up and not feeling very well rested in the morning.

i talked to a couple friends about it, but no one else i know "becomes exhaused" from dreaming, so reading about it here is very helpful.
