      Smile First succesful Dream Recall

Hi all, just wanted to share my first dream i've sucessfully recalled since i started? (this is my 2nd day of trying)

      Tuesday 12th May - DAY 2

I am walking done a straight path in a forest. The trees are vividly green and regular. The weather is very sunny, with no clouds or wind. I take a side-path leading to the left, where i arrive at a large, modern manor-house. To my right there is a bearded man wearing a raincoat despite the weather. I talk briefly to him, but i can't remember the conversation. I then find myself walking out of the bathroom of the house, and walking down a short corridor where i find the man. He gives me a camera- which is large, dark-brown colored and had a very long, very thin lens. The dream ends as I inspect the camera

      END OF DREAM

just wanted to know if it's usual to remember like this on my second attempt? or should i be recalling more?

oh, i also have a faint feeling that there was a second dream, but i can't actually remember it
Hey, you- what do you see?
      something beautiful or something free?

congratz , you should start your dream journal in dream journal section if you want. The dream recall varies from person to person. You should also start a your own dream journal ( write you dreams in some notebook ) it will be easier to remember your dreams and you could find your dream sings.Until i found about lucid dreaming i didnt even remebered that i was dreaming. Now i recall like 4-5 sometimes 6 or more dreams every night.

righto, thanks a bunch! I have already started a dream diary which i keep next to my bed, but that was my first entry in it. Just a question- should i try and recall my dreams every single night from now on?

Yes, you should. This will improve your recall and will help you with achieving lucidity

lol thanks all- yet another quick question... is it actually necessary to wake up every few hours to recall? only right now i have exams and need to get as much rest as possible, will my DR still improve sufficiently if i simply try to remember in the morning?

No its not necessary to do that.I usually recall all my dreams i had in morning.
Also keep in mind that stress , or mind full with everything (such are exams ) can reduce your dream recall.

Recalling all your dreams? Is this through your autosuggestion method?

If you happen to wake up directly after a dream during the night then you could write a few key-words down to jog your memory in the morning, but it's not absolutely necessary after your general recall goes up.

After a few weeks of dream entries in your dream journal you can then look for specific dream-signs such as regular people you see or places you visit within your dreams. Mine are things such as Coffee vending machines, motorcycles, cars, computer screens etc.

The good thing with dream-signs is that at a later date you could use these to heighten your chances of becoming lucid some time in the future if you regularly do an Reality Check every time you come across them in real life.

But the best bonus with dream-signs is that if you've written them down in your journal and for some reason on a given morning you can't recall any dreams no matter how hard you try, then you can flick back to your journal and say to yourself "Was this dream-sign ( motorcycle/car in my case!) in my dream?" etc, and sure enough your mind will probably lock onto one of the signs and you'll get your recall back further and further just from that one sign.

      Thanks BigFan

I'm always amazed when I can trigger a memory of a dream just through a general dreamsign so it's a good thing to practise.
I remembered 9 - 12 dreams last night doing this or at least scene changes but how I kept kicking myself for not becoming lucid on some very obvious clues that I was dreaming.

TY loads for the support and info- i'll make sure i keep the advice in mind
-Elkfazer- Will these dreamsigns show up in every dream i have? so if, sat, raincoat-man shows up in more of my dreams then he's probably a dreamsign?

Oh, I also recalled a part of a dream last night too

      Wednesday 13th May- DAY 3
      FRAGMENT-------------
I am a passenger in a car which is driving along a mountain- the car stays perfects upright even though the ground slopes steeply downwards. I then see a huge dome of rock which is hollow, and has a large H-shaped lake in it.
      END OF RECALL--------

don't know why i remember less than i did the night before- I know there was more to the dream, but i can't recall any more specifics- but i suppose that if i deviate from my normal sleep routine that may affect things?

Your raincoat-man is a very good dreamsign if he shows up in a lot of your dreams, but never in waking life. You may be able to train your mind to become aware of him if you re-read some of your dreams with him in them before you go to bed.The only downside to this is it might take a while for it to trigger an LD rather than a general dreamsign possibility in which you can do a reality check in real life too, such as if you see someone you know who also appears in your dreams a lot too.The same goes for locations, objects, vehicles etc, each time you come across one whilst awake during the day, do an RC such as the Noseplug test and truly believe that it will fail ie: you can actually breathe through your nose whilst still plugged and this may train your brain to do the same in a dream.

By the way, your raincoat-man might be your own personal dreamsign to you, apparently everyone has their own, so it'll be interesting to see over the coming weeks how many times he actually appears in your dreams. I actually think I found my own personal dreamsign last night and it happens to be a Fruit-machine,even though I hardly ever see one in real life, it has appeared about 4 times in 2 weeks.

Your car dream where the car stays straight even though the road falls away is a classic example of an anomaly that appears from time to time in virtually every dream but you just don't recognise it as such at the time and pass it off as normal.I believe it's just that the logic part of brain is indeed itself, half asleep and needs a real jolt to awaken your consciousness to the fact that something isn't right.

One final thought on dream recall though, and you could be a bit of a guinea pig here if you want to try it? It's to do with Vitamin B6 or more commonly known as Choline Bitartrate, this can be taken in tablet form at night just before sleep and I've found it has awesome effects on not only dream recall in general but the vividness of the dreams too.Probably the best way to experience the near-lucid visuals of the dream but without the control lol.

As I say though, it's an option for recalling more dreams etc but if you'd prefer to build up your recall naturally without supplements first then that's ok too Would be a good test as a newbie though to see if it works straight away.

okies- is B6 available over-the counter and do i need to be over 16 to buy it? may consider it if possible.

Oh, and by the way- I know that going to bed shortly after using the computer causes bad sleeping, but will it also effect dream recall? I would assume that it would actually help it as my brain would then be more active than it would otherwise be?

You can get B6 from Holland & Barrett either direct from their website or if you have a local branch near you, you can then pop in and ask a few questions about age limits, quantities etc, but it does say on the label the usual Keep Out Of Reach Children and daily dosage. It states 1 to 3 a day and they are 250mg Choline and 250mg Inositol. Here's a pic..

As for going to bed after playing computer games, I wouldn't see this as being any worse than watching a movie before bed really. If your mind is tired then you'll go to sleep no matter what you were doing beforehand. As for recall, this shouldn't make a difference as long as you get a good 7 hours sleep.

      I wish you good recall

tyvm- yet another quick question, they would no doubt ask what i want it for, yes? I suspect they would think i was somewhat daft if i turned up and said i want it to remember my dreams lol. would that be a valid reason to buy it?

Oh, also i read at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/me...otes/91597.stm that it can have bad effects above 50mg a day, and that over the counter ones are limited to 10mg a tablet?
