Hello Everyone, I'm new here and with a question

Hello Everyone!

I've been attempting to do lucid dream but I also have a question that's been a little weird to me and wonder if this is right.

Everytime I drift off to sleep and I'm a little conscious of it, I have these ... thoughts that pop out and these thoughts are have VERY random situations that I've never been in. I feel very spacious.... and I see people I've never meet before.. one time, i think... I saw a young mom and a kid dancing that I have no clue is who....

Sometimes I actually awake from it going what the? What was that??? I try to link back my thoughts from what I was thinking to how that thought came up, but there's never a connection...

Basically is it natural to have random thoughts before you completely drift off to sleep? Should I record these also so I can recognize a start of a possible dream?

Hmm, to me that sounds like Hypnagogic Imagery. It may not be, but that's what I think from what I could gather form your description. Also, welcome to the forums!

Ha, my thoughts get COMPLETELY random as I'm drifting off. I used to spend a lot of time daydreaming and I would continue my fantasies as I was lying in bed trying to go to sleep. As I got closer to sleep, my logical, formulated fantasy would get totally nonsensical and random and I would (haha) wake myself back up to continue the fantasy, only to have it go random again. I understand this to be exactly the way my brain is while I'm dreaming, so it always made sense that my mind's eye would lose rationality. Sounds like you are just maintaining consciousness as you enter sandman's land.
