First Lucid Dream just an hour ago.

Hello, I was just so fascinated by my first lucid dream I had that I just had to post something here.

I've been trying to LD for a few months now, and for the most part I've been successful for accurate dream recall, but I was never able to trigger a LD - for some reason induction techniques never took hold on me. Anyways, I woke up early this morning(5:00 AM), so I decided to spend some time browsing the forums here. After reading up on a couple of interesting methods I decided I might as well try a few. Half of me wanted to get back to sleep and I really didn't expect any results, so I just went and tried to go to sleep on the couch... About half way through I felt like I was failing, and because I was tired, I just thought I'd go to sleep anyways(unknown to me that I was already asleep ...I think.) After sitting a while I felt myself drawn up into sitting position without actually moving a muscle - that was when I realized I was dreaming and became Lucid. I was able to get up and stretch my arms of my on volition - and then I woke up lying on the couch again. One thing that I should probably note was that when I was moving it felt like I was moving through water - something I've seen in other dreams only when I'm about to wake up... I suppose I should have gone through the steps for prolonging the dream, but hey, this was my first.

It may not seem like much, but as my first Lucid Dream I found it rather fascinating - unlike normal dreams that come to me mostly as memories after I wake up, this one was in real time that I could actually experience. So I decided to record it here(6:30 AM)

Hopefully I'll perfect the techniques that I used to be able to LD more often

Cool. Lets hope the first of many.

For what its worth, the times I have really really tried hard at the MILD technique,
      it seems to have worked.

Theres times where it has failed, but I always know my heart wasn't in it.
      Lucid Dreams:-
      MILD/DILD: 79
      WILD: 13
      DEILD:13
      (TOTAL: 108 )

i am very new to all this, i started a dream journal 1 week ago.

i know what you mean by, normal dreams being in past tense. so a lucid dream feels present tense?, thats somthing iv had trouble understanding, did it 'feel' as real + vivid as normal everyday life ?

well, i my own experience regular/past tense dreams are like maybe 10-30% of reality, and the first/only lucid dream I've had was more like 70-80% real graphics-wise, and emotionally the change is ENORMOUS. you are able to 'feel' and experience everything as if you were awake.

awsome, thats what i was hopeing.

      when you say 'real', are you talking about;

      a) the feeling of realness

      b) or real in the sense, newtons laws of gravity real

as i've said earlier- visuallythey are somewhat better, but what topped it of was how emotionally real they were. have never felt such freedom, ecstatic freedom if you will.

Wow, sounds great! Hope you cant keep them going, my lucid dreams have almost always been this strategy of WBTB, I find it is easy if you have trouble with reality checks and the like. Good luck Phantom

What I dreamed last night was much more vivid than anything I'd ever dreamed before. It was almost as if I was truly there. Except that it ws snowing and I didn't feel cold. It just felt like it was real. Does that make sense?
