      lucid dreaming

Hey, i have been researching lucid dreaming for about a week now and i need some help on some parts. So far ive only had 2 lucid dreams. i have no problem staying asleep for about 5 minutes but i seem to wake up slowely. I just did read about spinning in one spot to stay awake so hopefully that will be helpful... is there something that could probably help me stay lucid for a little bit longer? all ive already got a notebook.... thanks for reading this

You need to keep calm, if you get excited or too nervous etc, (anything that gets your heart going, really) then you will wake up. If you feel things and focus on details it can keep you in a dream longer. Once I was in a lucid and it started fading, I walked twords the nearest tree (which had really rough bark, like a pine tree 4-5 foot in diameter) kept calm and felt its bark with my hand. I focused on what I was feeling, I tried smelling the sap and it steadied my dream within seconds.

In addition to the spinning technique, rubbing your hands will also aid in increasing lucidity. You can also try using verbal commands, telling yourself things such as "Increase lucidity", etc.

Just remember, becoming lucid at all is an accomplishment.

More practice will help, your brain gets confused in a lucid dream and requires the logic centre of the brain to figure out what's going on, so that wakes you up. After a while that will stop happening.

Try to engage all of your senses in the dream. Maybe taste something, touch something, listen, speak out loud, look down at your dream body. Like try to eat whatever is near you and feel its texture at the same time. Try not to think about your real body. Theoretically this engages your mind and makes it believe that it's already perceiving everything it needs to, so you won't start to feel your bed or hear your fan or whatever. Unfortunately I can say that it does not work for alarm clocks or ringing phones

More practice will help you, and trying to stay calm.

Also make sure to try to engage your senses and not just rush off when you first become lucid. That can usually cause you to lose lucidity or just wake up
