So I have been attempting WILD for the past 8 nights with limited success. Definite progression to SP and vivid HI, but nothing past that. After starting to get a little patient, I decided to take a break from WILD and work on DILD skills (I had a bunch of these in college). I came up with dreamsigns, did lots of RC over the past few days, etc.
Went to bed last night with the intention of trying to DILD. Woke up after my second REM cycle, remembered dream for my journal, and then tried to just go back to sleep (I've been taking B6 and melatonin at night, which makes me fall to sleep fast after post REM wakings). Started to follow faint HI, when I felt a decent wave of SP (which feels a little like of shiver to me) pass over. In the past I would get real excited when this happened, which I think was preventing WILD. Anyways, I was relaxed enough that I decided to be as much of a passive observer to the HI as possible. Sure enough, the HI, which started as blobs of light, became EXTREMELY organized and formed intricate and beautiful moving patterns. After just a few moments, a second HUGE wave of SP came over me.
It's hard to put into words what happened next, but the best I can say is that I felt a very clear separation of my consciousness from my body. There was no doubt in my mind that WILD was occurring (I actually said to myself "It's working!"). Following advice from this board, I floated up and out of my body. This occurred with no problem
I had no visuals, just tactile senses at this point. I rubbed by hands together, which brought the ceiling into focus. I decided to break through to get to light, since I wanted to find other DC's and explore. I smashed through the ceiling, but found another after that. I kept going up and smashing through new layers. I decided to spin while doing this to see if that brought on new scenery. It didn't, but I was still having a blast. At one point I really felt my physical body twitch, especially during periods of extreme movement in the dream, but it was very remote and didn't break lucidity.
I finally broke out into a daylight scene where I found two of my work friends. I began to loose lucidity and didn't think to try to regain, so the dream continued as a non-lucid. Nonetheless, I am excited to have a success after only 8 nights of trying.
Just thought I'd share. Can't really give any great advice other than that, at least for me, the secret seemed to be that I needed to become a less active participant at the SP phase.
Good luck everyone!
