Hi,
I've been Lurking around the website for a couple of years, and it inspired to have a go at lucid dreaming. after a few months, I all but gave up, but I visited again last night before going to bed, and I had a lucid dream!
I was in a car that one of my friends was driving, and he was driving like an idiot around the block. I was shouting at him to stop, and punching him on his arm, but I had no strength or voice. Suddenly I thought, hey, this normally happens to me in dreams, and did a reality check. I didn't expect it to work, put after plugging my nose I could still breath! I thought my hand must of slipped and tried again, but again I could breath normally! My first experience of a lucid dream and it felt fantastic! In fact, so fantastic that I did it a further 5 times.
I turned my attentions to my friend, who was suddenly driving very calmly. I punched him across the face anyway and left, running and whooping. strangely however I was now in a cavern. I didn't take much notice of this at the time, but it seemed almost 2 dimensional, like something from a video game.
I was bubbling with excitement and just ran around in circles for a while, but I felt the dream slipping from me. I remembered that you were supposed to stay calm, but for the life of me couldn't remember what you where supposed to do to stay in the dream. In my panic, I used the teleportation method of shutting my eyes.
Suddenly I saw myself looking at a scene from the film the orphanage. it was the scene where the protagonist discovers her sons body under the scary mask. I became so intrigued that I almost forgot that I was dreaming. After a while I tried to get away, but found that I couldn't move. I didn't have a body, just a floating point of view that couldn't move. the scene was getting all messed up, and other characters from the film were entering the room, singing what sounded like radiohead's "motion picture soundtrack".
I suddenly became aware I had my eyes shut, and opened them to find myself back in the cavern. It was deadly quiet and empty. I was just thinking what to do next when I felt the dream fade. This time I got the right method, sticking my fingers through my hand, but it was no use. I woke up in my bed.
However, I realised that it was still a dream, and tried to get up. I seemed to be in sleep paralysis, and couldn't move from my position facing the wall on my side. My brain instantly thought of scary sp hallucinations, and I sensed a presence in the room. I struggled, but couldn't move. dark shadow fingers began to peel back the sheets, as radiohead's "Idioteque" played in the back ground. I wanted to wake up. I decided that the best way to achieve this would be to flap my arms and scream, and so that's what I did. The sleep paralysis seemed to wear off slightly and I began to twitch.
I woke up slowly, lying on my side facing the wall, and still in sp. I struggled, and eventually managed to completely break free of sp and throw back the covers. I glanced around the room, expecting shadow monsters to surround me. The room was empty. I realised my CD player was on repeat, playing "Kid A". I switched it off and yawned. It was about 3 a clock.
When I went to sleep, I had a few dreams that I can vividly remember, but neither where lucid. they were about being in school, talking to this girl that had stole the teddy bear I always carry round.
Strangely when I woke up I did not at all remember the lucid dream until my mother asked me how I slept. I suddenly remembered, and told her all about it using lots of terms she didn't understand. she just rolled her eyes and carried on reading her book, occasionally saying something like "that's nice dear".
It makes me wonder, how many lucid dreams have I had and completely forgotten?
