yeah that happens too, a self-enforcing delusion. By the way, if when you start realizing you're dreaming and you wake up by mistake, don't be frustrated, that happens alot when you first start. When that happens you should try doing the WILD by not moving or opening your eyes and falling back asleep thinking about lucid dreaming. One time I was thinking about walking down a long never ending flight of stairs and got into a lucid dream.

I would say try other techniques like reality checks for DILD before trying to WILD. After failing WILD for the last 4 nights that is what I have concluded =P
      LDs since joining DV:
      DILD:56
      WILD:2

the thing that I do, is
      1) I eat a banana or dark chocolate before I go to bed, because it gives me more vivid dreams.
      2) when I get up to do WBTB, I write the dream I just had down while doing reality checks. This will almost always give me a DILD if the dream that i'm writing down is vivid enough. It's like the more details I write down the more likely I am to become lucid.
      3) Then just keep thoughts of lucid dreaming and what you would like to do once you become lucid (or use autosuggestion) as you fall back asleep.

works like a charm for me, and I usually only have to be out of bed long enough to go to the bathroom.
But it's different for everyone, you just have to know how long you can stay up before either becoming too awake to fall back asleep or not staying up long enough to become awake so that you fall asleep too quickly. once you figure that out you should be on your way to LD's in no time.

If you can remember to do reality checks in dreams, I'd try doing at least three of them. More times than none, my hands will be exactly the same, I jump like normal, I can feel pain like normal, but the nose plug RC never fails me. I've even had text look the same after looking at it three times. I've been trying to WILD so I can actively look at my dream signs and note them in my dream state of mind. Wish me luck! Happy dreams and many lucids!

yep, there are a lot of foods that can help with that, but most people have found bananas and chocolate to be the most useful. It's because of the higher levels of B6 (and in the bananas, Tryptophane) which help to make your dreams more vivid.

carrots, bananas, oranges, liver, nuts, eggs, chicken, spinach, fish, beans all have vitamin B6 which has Trytophan , which is then converted into serotonin that cause dreams to become so vivid.
