I'm a newbie but I thought I'd share an exercise for the benefit of any other newbies who want to try this. I got this tip from Stephen LeBerge's book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming".
It's a seven day exercise. Each day he gives four events for which you try to remember to do a reality check. The object is to improve your memory using only your own mental power during waking hours to help train your memory for dreaming hours.
These are the instructions:
1. Read the day's targets: When you get up in the morning, read and memorise the day's targets.
2. Look for your targets during the day: When you notice the event during the day, do a reality check. Ask yourself "Am I dreaming?" and do the reality check of your choice. (See the various reality checks you can perform in these forums. Eg pinching your nose and seeing if you can breathe, or looking at your hands etc.)
3. Keep track of how many target events you hit: Perhaps note it in your dream journal.
Each day I will post the four targets for you directly from Stephen LeBerge's book. (I hope you find these helpful... I do )
