Teaching Yourself to Remember to RC

I'm a newbie but I thought I'd share an exercise for the benefit of any other newbies who want to try this. I got this tip from Stephen LeBerge's book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming".

It's a seven day exercise. Each day he gives four events for which you try to remember to do a reality check. The object is to improve your memory using only your own mental power during waking hours to help train your memory for dreaming hours.

      These are the instructions:

      1. Read the day's targets: When you get up in the morning, read and memorise the day's targets.

      2. Look for your targets during the day: When you notice the event during the day, do a reality check. Ask yourself "Am I dreaming?" and do the reality check of your choice. (See the various reality checks you can perform in these forums. Eg pinching your nose and seeing if you can breathe, or looking at your hands etc.)

      3. Keep track of how many target events you hit: Perhaps note it in your dream journal.

Each day I will post the four targets for you directly from Stephen LeBerge's book. (I hope you find these helpful... I do )

Lucid Dream Goal: Give a dream character a flower and jump off the Sky Tower.

Recorded Lucids since joining: 3 DILD, 1 WILD
I often have other lucids that I forget or that I don't record for whatever reason.
Lucid Tasks Completed: 2 Basic (but one was a month too late)

      Day One:

Memorise these for the day and perform a reality check (don't write them down! Memorise them!):

The next time I see a pet or animal
The next time I look at my face in a mirror
The next time I turn on a light
The next time I see a flower

      Day Two:

Memorise these for the day and perform a reality check (don't write them down! Memorise them!):

The next time I write anything down
The next time I feel pain
The next time I hear someone say my name
The next time I drink something

      Awesome. That's encouraging.

If it helps anyone, that would be great.

This technique of his is for training your prospective memory so you can master his MILD technique.

      Good call, Bethany.
There was an ongoing thread about this a while back. Sara started it. Maybe you should try to revive it?

Start a new round of excercises for people to join in on?

I call it 'tag"ing your mind to something. It really works! i was designing a website, and it was all that was on my mind, so every time i thought of my website i remembered to do a reality check, and i have been doing reality checks ever since by trying that. so think, what is on your mind all the time?

      Just to let you know:

I've revived the other thread that Robot_Butler mentioned. So if you're interested in these memory exercises then pop on over there. Here's the link:
