Wink New and looking for input.

Hello. I'm here because of my dreams affecting my waking life, (and vise versa,) and that I want to see what I can do by keeping a dream journal.

I'm 22 years old, female (despite the "Ing" name <laughs>), I've had severe sleep paralysis for over a year now, sleep paralysis in general for 5 years, on and off. I have SP in waves--sometimes not being able to wake from a dream during SP for 15-30 minutes, give or take. Often paired with very repetitive dreams every 5 minutes or so.

I also have Tourette's syndrome, hypnogongic (spelling?) hallucinations, see halos, and recently night terrors. I often have OBEs/projections, shared dreams, and the occasional visit from my spirit guides.

I guess things started going downhill around New Years eve, this last year (2007/8). I had broken up with my boyfriend within the 3 months prior, and it was very stupid, and we had remained friends, albeit sexually confused at what to do with each other. I am convinced this person is my soulmate, and I know that sounds rash; but I have dated several other men and not felt a connection at all. I am very spiritually aware and extremely sensitive to such things, and something just "tells" me to get him back, coz I'm gonna pay with my sorrow if I don't.

Since confrontation and channeling of a spirit guide and hearing that this man is something I have to hold on to, I have been having terrible nightmares, night-terrors (which I rarely, if ever, remember,) sleep-screaming (I didn't know that was possible!) and "visions". As bad as that sounds, my "good" dreams are usually very filled with meanings that I don't quite grasp and I know I'm supposed to.

So that's my story. Hit me with your best shot! Which reminds me...is there a dream interpretation board in this forum? Or am I just skimming too fast and have passed it?

      Thank you!

      Hi there!

Learning lucid dreaming is going to be very helpful in your effort to combat nightmares - after all, nothing is very scary at all when you have absolute control over the world.

You'll also be able to explore those meanings that have eluded you in the past. You can look at them more intelligently in the dream, or summon your dream guide to help you interpret the dream.

There is a dream interpretation forum, it's a sub-forum of General Dream Discussion.

Good luck, and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

      Welcome to Dream Views, Inglwz.

I think you're right in assuming all these things are connected somehow. I'm sure you will be able to figure it out. It seems everyone's brains are set up differently when it comes to sleep and dreaming.

Sleep Paralysis is what first got me into dreaming. If you search around a little, you will find a lot of information about sleep paralysis, and how it relates to dreams. Have you ever had any lucid dreams before? Its empowering to start taking control of your dreams and your sleep. Try reading around about WILD (Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming). You may be able to figure out how you fall asleep, and even experience the transition from being awake to entering a dream directly.

It sounds like you may be naturally good at lucid dreaming if you have have sleep paralysis, projections and OBEs spontaneously.

I actually don't mean to OBE, when I have them. I used to have them bi-weekly from around 2004-2005, and they stopped around 2006, being few and far between. Ironically, that is when I met Juan, whom I spoke about above.

My sleep paralysis states have been getting very intense. It is very hard for me to tell when I am dreaming and when I am not; so you can tell that lucid dreaming would be good for me just from that--I can lucid dream, but usually when I do realize it is a dream and begin to become lucid, I open my eyes. Which wakes me up...it's a shame. I need better control and I hope to find that here.

Do you know of anyone who has SP in waves? I have 3-8 within 25-30 minutes of sleeping. That is, for 30 minutes, I am continuously being hit, wave by wave, by SP. It doesn't scare me and I think it's a good opportunity for this "WILD", don't you think? I will look it up when I have more time. Thank you, Robot Butler and Wave Function, for your information and your links!

I don't have much computer time this next week and a half, as we are going on an unexpected trip to WA; but I will be looking into these. Unlike most my family, I think dreams affect us more than most people let on.

Thanks again, it means so much to me. Take care and I'll see you on the forums, I hope?

Yes its a brilliant oppertunity to WILD.

I love experiencing SP and it almost always leads to a WILD for me.

Feel free to ask any questions, i doubt you will need to though as there is huge amounts of information on the forum =P.
