First lucid and I'm already flying.... : )

First, a little background. I am a multi-media visual artist and a very spiritual, energetic person. I exercise daily and practice meditation, and consider myself to be quite experienced at channeling energy, inwards and outwards. When I discovered lucid dreaming several months ago (why don't more people know about it in our society? we should be teaching our children while their minds are still open and fresh.... just imagine what they could do....), I knew this was to be the next step in my journey of self-discovery. Today, finally, I have achieved my goal and I am still ecstatic beyond words. Please allow me to share my experience as I wrote it word for word in my dream journal...

Two months of hard work and practice and hoping and waiting and trying have finally paid off, I just had my first lucid dream and it was AMAZING. The moment I realized it was a dream was when this little girl rode by me on a merry-go-round and she passed right by my face, she looked so much like me but slightly different- her eyes were brown and she had freckles, and her hair was just like mine with bangs, but white-blonde and she had the most beautiful smile. She was oblivious of me, in the moment, and somehow i knew that this was a real girl- not me, but another girl from past, present, or future- and that we were sharing a dream together. That little girl symbolized everything to me, her life force and her energy and her innocence were overwhelming. I can still see her face perfectly in my mind.

After this, I think in the next dream, I was still lucid but not as fully so. I walked around this house that was a strange composite of old houses I've lived in, seeing Sierra and another dog wrestling, random ferrets running around, and my dad sitting on the couch watching TV carrying a very, very tiny little goat that was spotted like a dalmation. Apparently it was his pet? Anyway, I walked outside to the porch as I was exploring and the view was that of Edmonds (my hometown in Washington) in the evening from Olympic View Drive- GORGEOUS. At this point my lucidity was it's strongest, and I remembered that I could fly. The second the thought entered my head, my body started to float upwards. I was excited, but scared, and I didn't want to leave the house yet, so I grabbed the edge of the roof and pulled myself back down (my body wanted to keep floating up). At this moment I looked at the skyline and saw the most beautiful cloud formation I have ever seen in my life, beautiful beyond description, the clouds were dripping and sliding and molding together.

This is when I got too excited and started to wake myself up. I flew through the house (I was still flying, since I realized there was no need to walk) and looked for my mom. When I finally found her, I tried and tried to scream that I was having a lucid dream, but I couldn't get the words out. Really I was half-awake and half-asleep at this point and the sleep paralysis prevented me from really forming the words, but once I woke I immediately screamed for my mom (who happens to be in town) and explained the whole story through tears of joy. I was so excited that I was shaking trying to understand it all.

I am SO amazed and thrilled beyond words that I finally had my first lucid dream, and it was so beautiful and so REAL. Next time I'm going to fly, I have no fear now...
