Wow.. lotsa newbies all of a sudden!

      Welcome aboard!

There is one piece of advice that I can give which is critical... this undertaking will take persistence, if you're not prepared to put in some serious time and even more serious effort there's no sense even starting. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to persuade anyone to quit, only trying to give you all a heads-up about the reality of this endeavor. Remember also that anything that's THIS good just can't be easy (unless you're that 1-in-a-million "natural" who just gets lucid with almost no effort - lucky SOB!) and that it's SO worthwhile working towards. The rewards far outweigh the efforts required, however staggering they may be.

One thing is for sure, if you can persist in your efforts.. you CAN achieve dream control, and if you're lucky it won't take almost 13 years, like it did for me. Again, not trying to bring anyone down, just letting you know what my real timespan was from my first wanting to my first lucid.

Also, always remember that Chinese proverb from pj's sig (priceless!)
"The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed."

So, again, welcome all newbies! You've begun a fantastic voyage.
Remember also Ford's quote: "If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right." So keep it positive, no matter what!

FDR: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself!"

One last thing, if you want to see how my journal has progressed, from when I joined this forum until now (although I must admit that lately my journaling has been lack, I only really input the epic dreams anymore.. tsk tsk!) you can check it out here.

(oh yeah... and don't smoke any frogs if you can help it! LOL!!!)
      smooches,

Great post, I just want to clear up a common misconception about "naturals". Maybe I am not interpreting your use of natural correctly, but I see it as someone who has had a lucid dream without prior knowledge of it. But just because someone is a natural, does not mean that they can become lucid with almost no effort.

I had my first lucid dream in 3rd grade, many years before I ever heard about lucid dreaming. I didn't have another until my mid teens I believe. And I still don't have too many. It may be a little easier, but it isn't easy. They are usually random for me. I almost never become lucid when I try.

So please everyone, remember that just because someone had a lucid dream before knowing about them, does not mean they can become lucid with little effort. I am sure there are plenty of non-naturals that become lucid more often than naturals.

No, a lot of people have had LDs before knowing what they were. I have. I don't think that is what he meant by natural. I think he mean that they are naturally very good at it.

Well for a "newbie" I'm racking up posts pretty fast and they're not just stupid little comments on everything either... most of them

      LD Tasks:
      [ ] Have a bloody LD
[ ] Play lead guitar and/or vocals in a rock concert with TONS of people (yeah I've been playing a lot of Rock Band lately... lol)
[ ] Beat the tar out of select people...

      Wow, this was really inspirational

I would work more on achieving my lucids but I don't have enough time till the Summer. . . . I'll try to squeeze in as many dreams as I can though before then!

For some, this is the worse possible way you can greet them. This is why BillyBob said that DVs can be more harmful than helpful :/

Dreams are based on our schemata, in laymen's terms, our mental expectations. If you expect it to be this huge endeavor that takes all of your effort, then you're right. It most certainly will.

But it doesn't have to be.
I am posting on topic elsewhere for the most part.

My DJ here at DVs, Realized Aspiration only contains old dreams. I'll be around for the occasional chat, and some unfinished/unstarted RPs.

And you, yeah you, with the ice cream hands. You, yeah you, are my friend. ~ Still my mentor, and an awesome guy.

Its not anything about being sensitive. People are new to this, and they have no clue how easy or hard it'll be.

The first thing they read is that it will be this enormous task that will take every fiber of their being to surmount it. And so, thats what it becomes for them.
