Thread: Suddenly remembering dreams from a year ago?

Yes, not too long ago I was writing in my dream journal and all of a sudden a similar dream came back to me. It was from back before I joined DV. Odd how the mind retains things.

Sounds a little like déjà vu.

Déjà vu ("already seen") also called paramnesia and is the experience of feeling sure that one has witnessed or experienced a new situation previously (an individual feels as though an event has already happened or has repeated itself). The experience of déjà vu is usually accompanied by a compelling sense of familiarity, and also a sense of "eeriness", "strangeness", or "weirdness". The "previous" experience is most frequently attributed to a dream, although in some cases there is a firm sense that the experience "genuinely happened" in the past.

I dident mean it like just the area, but as a whole dream being unlocked from my memory. In this case, i drove by a place near my old school, and suddenly unlocked this whole dream story, where i had flewn, tuned invisiable, ridden a mechanical bull, while beating a troll in a burger eating contest. just by driving through.. and i'm pretty sure it's a dream from loong ago, but just remembered now.... well.. it's difficult to explain.

Well you left out all the lucid dream "stuff" that you did in your original posting!

I would say it's very possible to have an event or place trigger the memory of a previous lucid dream that you had forgotten.

thx for the reply. sry about leaving out the stuff.. i don't really think i was lucid though. not fully anyway. but still.. i think it's cool, being able to savour just a little of my many missed / forgotten dreams.

Yea... i know. i get the wierdest dreams, without even realizing. i always feel so stupid afterwards. might be becouse of my A.D.D. XD

yeah ive actually started having flashbacks from dreams that i had a long time ago which happens alot when im recording my dreams down in my DJ

What do you do with your flashbacks? do you write them down? or just leave them?

I get that sometimes with my recall too, all of a sudden I remember dreams that I have had ages ago. I went through a patch when I remembered loads of childhood lucids too, pretty weird.

For the last few days I've been spontaneously remembering dreams from years ago, along with long-forgotten scenes from childhood. They just seem to pop into my head out of nowhere. I attributed it to the variety of supplements I'm now taking (possibly the ginkgo biloba).

I guess you could treat it like any other dream.. if you want to ensure that you remember it.. write it down.

Wow, since I've been keeping a dream journal (over a month) I've been remembering a handful of past dreams, it's pretty cool.

Ya i knwo sometimes im just writing in my D.J and i remember a dream that happen 3 week sago.
