      question about ADHD..

I wasn't sure exactly where a question like this ought to go, but I am still a noob here, so I figured I'd stick it in this section

I'm 23 and was recently diagnosed with ADHD, which in retrospect I have obviously had my entire life (how nobody else like parents or teachers ever picked up on it and it ended up being my therapist that did, I don't know). I'm highly distractible/tangential and the same goes for my dream-mind. I just started taking a medication for it IRL, which is supposed to help me focus better and realize more quickly when I've gotten off-track mentally. It's only been a few days so nothing has changed yet but I'm hopeful.

My question is, does anyone think that being on the medication IRL will help my dream-mind to focus better too? Logically it kind of makes sense to me that way - my dream-mind is still my mind, just removed of my physical senses, but still the same mind.
I could be wrong.. but holy damn, if I could be less distractible in my dreams, it seems like that would help a LOT with sustaining lucidity, focusing on lucid tasks, paying attention to my surroundings, etc. The thought of it makes me even more excited about LDing than I already am! A lot of times in my dreams I feel as though I am "wrapped up" in what's going on inside my mind and don't TRULY notice or appreciate my surroundings unless I'm making a conscious effort to do so, and even then I usually don't sustain it for long, which makes sense because that's how I am IRL too.

Anybody have any ideas on this?
      Thanks!

      Welcome and congrats!

To be honest I'm not entirely sure on the effects medicines have on lucid dreaming. Although I know that some can cause you to find it difficult to remember your dreams.
Sorry I can't be of any more help.

I disagree, I think it could have a very positive effect (even more with placebo)

I too have adult ADD, not hyperactive though, but I have struggled with it for a while now, actually it started when I got out of school when I was 16. I just ignored it figuring that if I wasnt genually interested in it, then ofcourse I wouldnt pay attention. But then things like moving up to a lead position at work where I have to concentrate on boring things, this led me to seek help. However I dont like doctors that much, unless I am bleeding badly or have broken something, I dont go to the doctor, I figure it out on my own and find a way to fix it.

Anyways, I started taking Boron (found that by taking the recommended dose but twice a day, so yeah its double, it works better), anyways this stuff helps out with basically making you concentrate and calms you down mentally and physically. Thats the only bad thing, it really does calm you down physically, so I started back on taking my Spike supplement to get me through the day. But its like a natural supplement for people with ADD, and it does work, since taking it I have been able to concentrate on anything, I even started reading a lot every day like I used to do back in the day.

I also take Choline, this I heard helps out alot with remembering your dreams, and also helps you focus, this stuff works wonders too. I take the Boron and Choline early in the morning with my other supplements, and Im good all day and I take another dosage right before bedtime with Melatonin. The very first time I took all 3, plus some weird herb called Spirit Flower or something, and meditated right before going to sleep I had a bunch of dreams, one of which became lucid but just as it became lucid my alarm went off. And I was able to remember them all, I didnt write them down, but I was able to recall them, still can actually and this was a while back.

Meditation helps out alot as well, I hate to say it, but alot of those meds that doctors put you on just kind of manipulate your mind and if its the wrong medication or dosage, it can quickly mess with you in a bad way. Not saying the stuff doesnt work or anything, just saying for any prescription a doctor gives you, theres always a much better, healthier, less expensive alternative that you dont need a prescription for.
