My first lucid, or a dream about LD?

Tonight I finally got a lucid dream, after reading about it for a few months (like 6!)... I was stupid enough not to write down everything when I first woke up - too lazy >_>. Here's what I remember: I'm walking down a stairway, on a stair i find a lump piece of SOMETHING. I pick it up and think "Hey, this can't possibly happen in real life! Maybe it's a dream?" I do the breathing through your nose test... try to breathe, and I can breathe!! Can't remember much anymore, except that I got really excited, tried some things (like what? O_o), and then I believe the alarm sounded... or the dream ended... O I just don't remember... So the dilemma is... Did I really manage to LD, or was I just dreaming about having an LD (as I read LOTS and LOTS about it, and had read/thought about it the day before)... ? but then again... does it matter? O_o

Whoa, you have the exact same avatar as another member, Bonsay! If you said (or thought) "hey this is a dream", then it was a lucid dream. It could have been a "dream about a LD", but like you said, it doesn't really matter.

I don't really see how you could dream about having a LD yet have those experiences. I think you would have had to have experienced it from a third person's perspective for it to be just a dream about LDing. In that case, I don't think that would count as a real LD. However, it seems like your case IS a real LD. I don't see how you, the person who experienced this, could be confused though?

You could have a normal, out-of-your-control dream, about yourself knowing its a dream, but what you choose to do in that lucid dream within a dream is completely out of your control and just as strange as a regular dream. I completely understand if that last sentence makes no sense.

You're saying you could have a LD with zero control? That's still a LD because control or lack thereof is not in the definition of what lucid dreaming is.

Well, yes, I realize that, but you could still have a dream, about yourself realizing that something is a dream, inside the dream. But you haven't actually realized it, its just part of the normal dream sequence. I can't figure out how to put it into words.
