I just discovered this site the other day after I was searching more about the movie Waking Life. What a great movie, if you have not seen it I would highly recommend it, especially with your obvious interest in dreams.

Anyhow, I am looking for some advice on lucid dreaming... I have only had one lucid dream (that I can remember I suppose) and it was very short and I was young, maybe 12. At the time I didn't realize what it was but I was basically in a horrible nightmare that seemed to drag on and I kept waking up and falling back asleep and the dream would just continue from where it left off. Finally it just hit me that I didn't have to be there and I began screaming "WAKE UP!!" And to my surprise, I did!

I have always been able to remember my dreams quite well my entire life, almost every night actually. As I read on this site, I am very lucky to have that ability and I am grateful for it because it says that is the first step to lucid dreaming.

So now what? Last night I tried going to sleep thinking about nothing except the fact that I was going to have a dream and recognize dream signs and realize I was dreaming. I kept repeating that thought in my head but when I woke up several times in the night all I had dreamt about was talking about dreaming vs. actually realizing I was dreaming. I understand that this is a skill you must practice on, but since I just created this account I figured I would say hello and see if anyone has some good advice for a beginner who is open and willing to discover the endless opportunities of the dream world!

Thank you and sweet dreams
