Welcome to dreamviews eg
I suggest you wait a little longer, it takes some time. You may want to take a cold shower at around 5 AM, this helps a lot. You should try more reality checks too.
This websites tutorial section may also help you.
thanks, but i probably couldnt take a shower without waking the rest of my family:?
:welcome:, egizmo. I don't know where sugarglider got the cold shower idea:?. That isn't a method I've heard of.
Have you been doing lots of reality checks? Do you know your dream signs?
Born to kill gave me the idea, he says it has an 80% chanse of working, it wakes you fully during your later, longer rem period.
I wouldn't worry much about the shower, Its not that loud (unless yours is really loud, or you have really light sleepers) the walls muffle mine a lot.
Have you looked at these? The tutorials -

Try taking a slightly more passive approach. Sometimes trying too hard can impede lucid ability.
yes i agree with jmp if u try too hard u will make it harder for urself, also frequent reality checks during the day help alot, trust me thts how i had my first lucid dream.
Some suggestions:
Try different techniques. Maybe use goals like the Lucid Tasks as motivators. Find a night where you have few restrictions and be determined. Remind yourself of lucid dreaming goals throughout the day.
its hard to recognize dream signs, because my dreams vary so much:undecided:
oh, and btw ive read evey one of the tutorials:listenup:
:morecrying: I feel really bad that you are getting frustrated, because I know exactly how you feel. Trust me, I wake up everyday irratated because I know another night has passed without me having a lucid dream. But I try to look at the bright side; at least my dream recall goes WAY UP whenever I practice lucid dreaming, and sometimes simply remembering your non-lucid dreams is rewarding enough.. although lucid dreams are WAY BETTER!!!
Just keep at the reality checks. I have FINALLY got into a fairly good habit at doing them, and i finally had my first lucid dream ever a few nights ago. It was incredible and well worth the wait. :laughhard:
finally, someone understands me:doh:
Look at the other bright side--you get another chance every night of your life.
That's very true--I like that.
I know it can be frustrating to wait and wait and wonder if it is ever going to happen for you. I remember my first three weeks of trying hard. I started wondering if it was even possible for me...then I started wondering if it was even possible at all. At that point I decided to quit--and that night I had my first LD...:D.
So don't give up. Some people start LDing soon, while others take longer. My advice is to keep trying, but not to the point where it is stressful. Read through the tutorials and try out some different methods when you have the time. I have found the Wake Back to Bed method works the best for me. But I only do it maybe once a week. Like moonbeam said, there are plenty of chances to work on this--no need to rush or stress.
Good luck!
Hmm.... You had a dream the night you gave up. I think it might be a good idea to not really try for a while. It worked for Twoshadows, and it works for me. I've heard of people having less lucid dreams after coming to the site. I think it might be because we want to try to do it.
I've noticed that most of my lucid dreams come when I don't try, same with WILD's , I've done only one WILD while trying, the other times were just random and I was able to.
I think you shouldn't try so hard, but still keep a dream journal. Even if it's minor and you think you'll remember it.
try to think "what if I'm dreaming?" or however you would put it.
thank you everybody:yeah, im going to keep at it
who is not sleeping..then you are sleeping...
I think LDs can happen without trying for a reason. I think to have an LD a person has to have an awareness about them that is part of the "core" of who they are. When the person is trying and trying, they are essentially in some ways "acting" and it might not be as likely to happen then due to overexertion. But when a person stops trying, they have one without even trying because now their true self or "core" is able to do what it does naturally. Does this person shouldn't practice? No way. The more a person practices, the better their skills and the more their core self oriented towards LDs becomes capable of having them in the first place. Hope that makes sense.
