Thats fully normal at the beginning. I can clearly remember i was asking this question here a month ago. But after some time it doesnt make problems to awaken at night.
It is the first step in lucid dreamin. First task you have to accomplish is to convert yourself from deep into light sleeper. It has some disadvantages, but the advantages are worth it.
I would suggest you to set the time you go asleep hard and then you experiment with time of waking up in the middle of the night. At first. It is good to take a short nap at afternoon to prepare yourself for main attempt at the evening and in the morning. After you find the right time to wake up. Set it hard.
Now.. The most important part>> You have to be successfull in waking up at night at least two or three times in a row. This way you make habit out of awakening and your subconscious will later wake you up naturally. And this is it. You will no longer feel as exhausted as before. And you will then naturally start to remember your dreams even more.
As for me i am in a transitional stage. I can now remember three or four dreams per night in just one awakening. And it is all becouse i set as my goal not to have as much lucid dreams as possible {I will set this goal later}, but to have the best possible recall.
