A Good Start
I found this site a few days ago, and having had a couple of lucid dreams in childhood, but never since, I started reading with interest.
Since then, I've had two false wakenings in three nights. On the first one, I performed a reality check by looking at my watch. Where the face should have been, there were just fuzzy black and white lines. So I realised that I was dreaming, as I never wear a watch. Pretty much immediately I then woke up for real.
Then last night, two nights later, I had another false wakening. Unfortunately, I didn't do the reality check as, even though I was questioning it, I became sure I was awake. After a minute or so, I woke up, and for a moment, had the bizzare sensation of being conscious of both the dream, and lying in bed in the real world.
I've started putting reality checks into my real life, so hopefully I'll start having more and longer lucids.
Can't wait to fly!:D

Cool, :welcome: to DV! Did you do anything particular before going to sleep those two nights, do you think, that induced some FAs?

Hi and welcome to the site.
You've got one foot in the lucidity door by having experienced a LD already. They will get longer and more vivid with time and practice. Bet you'll be flying in no time.
Any questions, comments, complaints or just want to compliment how wonderful I am, send me a pm. ;)
See you around.

Thanks for the welcome messages :okbyenow:
In answer to Mes Tarrant's question, the only thing I did before going to bed was to read this site, so :thanks: for being here!
I don't think I visited the site on the second night, when I didn't have any FA/LD experience, so it seems that reading about lucid dreaming is putting me in the right frame of mind before going to sleep.
Last night I went to bed after reading a few threads and posting my message, and had a couple of lucid experiences.
The first was a kind of double FA. I "woke" up, lying in bed and questioned whether or not I was really awake. I decided that I was, stuck a strip of newspaper to my forehead with saliva and went "back" to sleep. A little later, I "woke" again to find that the newspaper had disappeared. From this I concluded that I had in fact been dreaming the first time, and was now awake for real. At that point I woke up, thoroughly confused.
Later on, I had a dream which started as normally as any dream. Various locations and people didn't match up, but it was only towards the end when I found myself getting off a train at the beach that I started questioning it. I asked my brother if I was dreaming, and before he even answered, I realised he wasn't my brother at all, and I knew I was dreaming. I started rubbing my hands together to try and prolong the lucidity, but to no avail. I woke up straight away, with my hands still tingling!
I'll try spinning next time.
So, still nothing too major, but I've had my first - brief - lucid dream in a location other than my bed. I think I'm making progress:boogie:
