riding a bike
i am still kind of new and have not had a lucid dream yet. ive been working at it for about a two months. i really got serious about it in the last week. i do reality checks every 15 or 30 minutes now. but the lucid dream still seems elusive. my question is once i get my first one will they occur more frequently? like when you spend two weeks trying to get up on that two wheel bike. and then you finally get it and you have no trouble from there on.
-
Yea it should get easier, cause after your first one you sorta realize what works for you and what doesn't.
-
im wondering how frequent they are though. ive heard alot of people say they get about two or three lucid dreams a month. i was under the impression that with practice and without being a lucid dreaming god you could manage 3,4 or even 5 a week. is this possible?

I guess a person could if they're really good at WILD. But other techniques like MILD and DILD won't happen every night, they're kinda random. (I assume)

Yeah I would say its possible, especially if you learn to WILD. I think that if you have had LDs, then you will have more because you've done it before. Its kinda like riding a bike as far as you are in a dream and then that starts you thinking and then you go "o yeah this is a dream". Even if you don't have then more frequently i would say the quality of them improves anyway.
Edit: Elucive beat me with the same thoughts
Edit again: haha but I beat Alex D

It's very possible, with practice, to get that frequent from any technique really, yes. However, lucid dreaming is not like riding a bike sadly. Having them does lead to more frequent ones, but when you stop they stop and you're back to square one. (Only this time you know all the ways to get back to where you were again)

Hey there,
Like others said, its not quite so simple as learning to ride a bike. Its something you have to work on every day. Think of it more like changing your lifestyle, then simply learning something when you 'can then do' whenever you want to.
That said, it is possible to become better at it. Takes work, time, and patience. Some people have an easier time with it then others too. Some people will get only a few lucid dreams per month even if they work at it. Others get a lucid dream per night, with little to no work. There's a lot of variety.
Personally, I'm not good with WILDS. I find them fascinating but I've only had a few in all the years I've been practicing. Most of my lucid dreams just happen spontaniously while dreaming. Still, I've gotten to the point where I have semi-lucid dreams practically every night, and full blown lucidity usually a few times per week. So all the work does pay off, and it does get easier.
Hope that helps,
