(I'm back) Why are DJ/DS important? Are they?

      Hi everybody.

After one year, I decided to come back around here, and make more of what you call 'reality checks' although I always found them silly, I can't pride myself with being very lucid in my dreams either, like some of you. I'm on an early exams preparing stage so trying to do more sleeping and learning and waste less time with computer.

I'd have a quick question that popped in my mind while reading around here. Are making a DJ and DS important at all for being able to have dreams again, or thinking a few hours of what you dreamed and keep it for yourself do it as well?

      Thanks,
      Arbaces.

Hi, and welcome back! I think keeping a dream journal until you start getting a lot of dreams is important. After a while I just write a few down and I have a lot of dreams. Also, I rarely do reality checks, but I do them a lot in dreams.

I almost never do them, and last week I had 4 lds!

So good luck, and I suggest a dream journal!!!

      Hi there,

Yes a Dream journal is one of the most important tools for lucid dreaming it helps you remember your dreams and it helps you to recognize dream signs. If you know what your dream signs are chances are you're going to get a lucid because a part of your mind will go "hang on, I usually dream about this".

Reality Checks are silly if you don't understand the sense of doing them. They're not silly because as soon as doing RCs has become a daily routine and you make them without a second thought, you begin to do them as well in your dreams and suddenly you get lucid. A good idea is to turn on the hourly clock of a digital watch and every time it rings it reminds you of doing an RC. Try also to vary between RC do not always the same, because it could be that this one doesn't work for you.

Dream Journals are very important because they help improve your dream recall by writing down your dreams, and with better recall you get more of a chance to become lucid.

Dreamsigns are important because they are signs you can easily identify in the dream and they can trigger lucidity for you.

They help your recall but also allow you to see a large number of them over a period of time, so that you can find recurring elements within your dreams. These recurring elements help you go lucid, I used to do reality checks all the time, now I only do them when I'm with two of my friends, or doing martial arts, because it recurs in my dreams.
