Hello there I just joined up with these forums to share my experiences with everyone. A little about myself...Well I had my first LD when I was 11 or 12. One of my friends was staying the night at my house and we were staying up late. I started to doze off a bit and found myself standing a field. In the middle of the field was a large tree without any leaves on it, a dead tree I guess. My friend was talking to me as I fell asleep and I remember asking him if he could see that tree over there. I realized I was dreaming after a moment and woke myself up. He was asking me what I was talking about, and I just kind of shrugged it off.

Ever since then, my lucid dreams have been on an off. I am 25 now, and still have lucid dreams. Mind you, its not by choice. My lucid dreams have never been by choice, they just happen. I haven't had a full night's rest, (straight 8 hours of sleep), for about 8 years. For the past 5 years or so I have been working night shifts for work. I never really get anymore than 2-3 hours of sleep a day with maybe 15 or 20 minute naps throughout the day before work. Why don't I get anymore sleep than that you ask? I'm just not tired I guess, I will try to and end up just laying there. I'm sure the schedule I've been on has somethin to do with that.

I have browsed the forums a bit. And I understand that a lot of people here try to induce lucid dreaming. That is all well and good, and I suppose at times it can be very exciting. Other times it can be very scary. I'm not sure if I have a medical condition, perhaps sleep apnea or something, but please know that some people have no choice when it comes to lucid dreaming. With that being said, I do look forward to sharing my experiences with people who have had the same and hope we can all eventually find the answers we seek.

      Welcome to Dream Views.

When you say some people have no choice when it comes to lucid dreaming, are you saying it as a bad thing? I was slightly confused by that part.

Huh interesting. So you can't help having lucid dreams? But why do you say they are scary? I think WILDs are often a bit frightening before you get into the dream, but yours sound like DILDs. In a lucid dream everything is under your control. Nothing should be able to frighten you

      Good luck with further research,

Well hmmm...I don't always have control of them. They fall under the lucid dream category because I don't have a normal sleep cycle. There is no deep sleep involved. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's why I'm here though, is to educate myself on these matters Nice to meet you guys.

Yes and no. It depends on the person really. I have had some very odd, and at other times disturbing lucid dreams. The person could view this as good, or bad. I do know that since my LD's have started I have also sleepwalked, had my nightmares worsen (when I do have them), experienced paranoia, and sleep paralyzation.
