I am new to this and haven't had a lucid dream yet, but I think I'm progressing. One night I actually dreamt that I was lying in bed, listening to some audio tape with a man giving instructions on how to have lucid dreams, but I couldn't become lucid in the dream within the dream either. I have also started to question some things in my dreams, like "hy do I have perfect eye sight?" bu then I sometimes in the dream find another reason for it than I am dreaming.

I often forget to to reality checks while I'm awake, but I know what my dream signs are so I hope I can have some more progress now

Hey there, Drogo, and welcome to DreamViews! :yumdumdoodledum:

Sounds like you're on the right track. If you're dreaming about trying to have a lucid dream, then you know that the subject is prominently in your mind.

Have you checked out the Tutorials section yet? Have you tried any particular methods? You should read up on the various methods, and choose one (or a combination) that you think would work for you, then work on it for a few weeks. If you have any questions, just ask!

Hi and thanks for the answer TygrHawk!

I have moslty looked on "reailty checks" and they seem quite easy to do, I just need to do them more often I guess.

I aslo have some fears for lucid dreams, like false awakenings. I think I would be very scared If I had some of those. I also tend to blow up small problems, like being afraid that I would start thinking that the dream was reality and then I would never wake up, but I'm pretty sure that's just nonsens.

Just doing RCs may or may not work for you. Never did for me. But give it a chance and see what happens. In the meantime, read up on some of the other methods.

As far as your fears go, you really have nothing to fear. False awakenings can be frustrating, but if you find them happening a lot, you can use them as a trigger for becoming lucid. Just remember to do a reality check every time you wake up (or think you have woken up).

And as far as never waking up -- yeah, that's nonsense. Most of us find that we wake much too quickly after becoming lucid -- when you get the hang of it, you'll be trying to stay in the dream as long as possible, but you will always wake up eventually.

Ok, that was good to hear

I looked on some other methods some time ago, these WILD things, are they about going to sleep concoiusly or is that another one? And which one worked best for you?

And by the way, what is adopting?

Yes, WILD is where you enter a lucid dream directly from a conscious state. I've never had much luck with this method, and it is generally considered the most difficult to learn. However, those who master it say that it usually results in much better LDs.

Personally, I've had the best luck with a combination of the MILD and WBTB methods.

Adoption is a program on DV where a more experienced member can take a "newbie" under his or her wing, for some one-on-one help. You need to be a member for two weeks to be officially adopted. If you're interested in being adopted, use your 2 weeks to look around the forum and find a member that you think would be a good fit for you, and ask them if they would adopt you.

One more thing TygrHawk ( Or anyone else)!

Can you never read in dreams? I mean is this without exceptions? And what is a "nose reality check"?

      Thanks!

Everyone is different, so while most people probably can't read well in dreams, others maybe able to. There are few black and white things when it comes to dreaming. It just depends on the person.
