Hello, and a couple basic questions.

hi there everyone. recently i became interested in dreams and there significance. i've read through the topics on the main website and have a good idea of what i need to do in order to induce lucid dreaming (dream recall, etc.). anyways.. i only have two questions:

      1) Something i've thought about recently, which could have a large effect on dreaming: is it "worse" (for lack of a better word) to fall asleep listening to music if attempting to recall dreams/induce lucidity?

      2) Is it just as good to write things down in a document on a computer, rather than keep a physical dream journal, or is the physical dream journal much better?

thanks everyone, and i look forward to reading your responses.

hey there, welcome to the forum! I really don't know about the music, I've never tried it myself. About writing your dreams in a document instead of a physical journal, I think it's fine as long as you can write them the moment you wake up. That's why I prefer the actual physical journal. I guess that if the computer does the trick for you, that's good!

      Whatever works right?

The music thing is strickly personal. Fro some people, ti might distract them from LDing, for others no effect, and for some others it helps them be lucid because the music is a link back to the waking world. Experiment for yourself. As for the journal, its up to you to, makes no differecne. however, if you have a physical journal you can wirte down your dreams faster the secon you wake up, or if you wake up in the middle of the night.

I use a Diary software to write down my dreams. For me there's only one big disadvantage. I wake up press the power button, go to the bathroom and when I come back I totally forgot about remembering my dream and writing it down. That's why I sometimes make a few notes right after waking up so I can remember it later.

i figured the big advantage to a physical journal would be diagrams. there are a lot harder to make on a computer then they are to draw them out.
