For years now I have had Extreme Difficulty Falling Asleep, Usually when I decide its getting Late I try to go to sleep but instead end up stearing at the Cealing for hourse on end.
For example, I will see that the time is around 12:30 at night, and should go to sleep to get up on time for work which starts at say 11:00 a.m.. Ill go to my bed and start to try and sleep but instead end up stearing up at the ceiling with my eyes closed for hourse on end in the dark, or changing positions every few hours and unable to sleep, or turning the TV on for 30 minuts, then trying to sleep again for a few hours. Eventually I will see that it has been about 5 or 6 hours that i have laid in bed trying to sleep with no succes what so ever. Eventually I will fall asleep and have to wake up an Hour later, or I will not be able to sleep at all, and realizing its to late to try now and just go off to work tired as ever.
Having this problem results in my haveing to constantly come home tired and accidently take naps on my couch or in a chair for 2 or 3 hours. I usually accidently fall asleep like this 2 or 3 times, which ruins my off time, my Eating habbits, and my ability to even attempt having Lucid Dreams.
When ever I try to sleep i notice a High Pitched Frequency in my head whcih tends to keep me awake as well, as if i were standing next to a high Voltage Power grid, but with a much higher pitch. I can only seem to notice this while the room is quite or im bored, ussualy i can't notice it while working or buisy.
Can sombody pleas help me.
Firstly, have you been to see your doctor about this?
Also, what's your nighttime routine like? Do you consume a lot of sugary snacks or caffeinne before you go to sleep?
Do you take time to chill out?
What time do you finish work, is your job stressful?
I could make some suggestions for nightime routine.
An hour or so before bed, begin winding down. Turn off your computer if you use one. Make yourself a warm drink, like horlicks (i drink peppermint tea) this raises your body temperature ever so slightly, but when you cool down, you should feel tired.
I usually take my peppermint tea to bed with me, along with a book. I lie in bed reading for a little while, feel drowsy and drop off to sleep!
Let me know how you get on...
