Are you just trying night time induction at the moment, or are you incorporating daytime practices as well? For example, doing reality checks as often as you remember throughout the day can greatly increase your chances of having a DILD, even if you miss the opportunity to WILD that night.
The DV dream journals also have a private setting if you prefer - just check the box that sets the visibility to moderators only.
I personally didn't keep a DJ when I first started lucid dreaming, although I did talk with my parter first thing in the morning about my dreams, so it was kind of like an audio DJ I guess. 
However, even as a more experienced LDer now, I do keep a written DJ and find it helps a lot with my recall and recognising dream signs (which can help induce further LDs).
It will definitely give you a leg up if you can find a way that's comfortable for you.
