hi, i'm new...obviously

I've been having terrible nightares lately and trying to make sense of them. I came to this site to help me understand them. But here has been a recent development in my nightmares. I've been dying in them all or experienceing near death encounters. ALso, there has been a Dark Man who seems to be architecting these horrible dreams. I met him the oher night and had my firs lucid experience where I realized I was dreaming and trhat I was in control. I altered my dream a bit and then it ended. When I woke up I was amazed and decided that i was going to have to kill the Dark Man in my dreams. But I need to learn how to gain more control. SO I search the web and found this site. I don't want to say to much since I read the rule about not asking a bunch of questions until i have done research. But I'm here now, and at a glance I can tell I'm in the right place. Hello All

Welcome on board. Yes, spend a little time researching, but please ask questions Now, you say you want to kill the Dark Man? I would recommend a different approach. It is likely that he is a construct of your subconcious and being so, it is better to understand him than to kill him. I suggest you work on control, this is good, but instead of killing him, sit him down somewhere and talk to him. Find out why he is doing this to you, it could take a little while, but will be worth it. After you have learned all you can from him, ask him to leave you alone. Good luck!

Welcome to DreamViews Jokers Sorry to hear about those Elm-Street-esque nightmares. But I'm so glad you were able to acheive lucidity. It's such a great way to get a handle on nightmares. Or at least learn to wake up from them when they get nasty. I agree with Seeker, see what happenes when you confront him. well, in my enoucnter with Him, I reacted to my fear by screaming "naked women, naked women!" and in the corner of the room, two dark figures appeared. Then the light started to draw on tem and hey revealed themsleves to be naked women! but just as they came into complete focus, the whole room started melting away , fading to black, then I woke up.
