      Love Lucid Dreaming

      Hi All Lucid Dreamers!

I stumbled on this forum when searching for topics on this lucid dreaming phenomenon.

I used to have real bad dreams as a child, never wanted to sleep because of the fear of those nightmares. Then one day a lady told me I shouldn't be afraid and rather embrace the dreams and see what there is to learn from them. That is when I started consciously controlling my dreams and the outcomes thereof.

I never knew there was a term that described it and I'm also surprised to find so many people also experience it. Because when I discus the topic with friends and other people, it is completely foreign to them. Lately I have started to get less and less of these dreams. So I'm excited to learn that there are ways of consciously inducing it and can't wait to get into it!

I hope to have some brilliant experiences again on a more regular basis!

      Kind regards

Welcome Stefaans! As you may have gathered, some of the best lucid dreamers seem to have dealt with strong nightmares. I don't count myself in that category but I did also discover lucid dreams for dealing with nightmares when I was young and after defeating the nightmare went on to some adventures but then forgot about dreaming (for the most part) not long after, until more recently...many years later. I am sure we can also learn things from you!

What would you say was the key element that changed when you first started controlling your dreams?

      Hi IAmCoder,

I was very young at that stage and can't really remember how everything happened in a step by step way. What I do know is that, the moment I didn't fear to go to sleep anymore it must have helped a lot. I believe when I was more relaxed it triggered the Lucid experience. A few years back I started meditating a bit, suddenly I was experiencing LD's on a more regular basis again. So personally I believe stress doesn't help very much. Also we all know in the mind of a child more things are perceived as possible than for adults. I guess I didn't question the persons insanity when she told me to interact in the dream, after all what would a child know about that. I just did what she said and believed like children do. Maybe we should think like children more often when it comes to our dreams. In fact the norm is to think of dreams as exactly just that, they are just dreams. How then do we expect our minds to also believe in this experience and bring it forth?

I'm not sure if this answers your question, please let me know!
