Smile Hi! Would love to talk to people who get lucid dreaming :)

      Hello everyone

I'm 22 and discovered lucid dreaming about 3 years ago. It was an accident the first time, and I didn't really realize what had happened. But then a few weeks later my psychology professor at the time mentioned lucid dreaming in class and I started to do research. I was very motivated and even had a few (though they were fuzzy) through the DILD method I was so excited about the whole experience and wanted to tell all my friends about how great it could be! But nobody really seemed to understand or even seemed interested.

After a few months I quit practicing, but now I am starting again with even more enthusiasm! So far I've had a few more fuzzy lucid dreams, a couple coming from the DILD method again. But even more have been happening in the morning, and I'm not sure if they would be considered WBTB or WILD. Here's what happens: I wake up in the early hours of the morning and lay in bed. I try to relax my whole body. After a while I will begin to feel my whole body vibrating, this is either accompanied by a roaring sound, a sound like crashing waves on the beach, or random voices. None of this scares me because I understand it to be sleep paralysis. I can't even tell how long this goes on for but eventually I find myself rolling out of my bed. Then I get up and do a reality check. I know I'm lucid but my dream room is so fuzzy and unclear! I lose lucidity within a few seconds. I think I need to work on stabilizing the dream.

Anyway, I would love to talk to people who actually want to have conversations about lucid dreaming and if anyone has any advice on stabilizing dreams that would be great too

      Welcome cat14

Now that's a proper psychology professor I think in my country there's close to ZERO research regarding lucid dreaming, and as you'll see, we're not that many with the portuguese flag around DV...we're increasing in number though ^^
Sadly, yes, there's many people who don't get what lucid dreaming truly means...but you're in the right place

By what you describe, it appears that what you experience is not sleep paralysis, but simply hypnagogic hallucinations, which are extremely common events one may experience before falling asleep. And yes that is a WILD, because it basically refers to falling asleep consciously. As for WBTB, that's more the act of getting up at the middle of the night to reinforce the intention on lucid dreams: you can use it with many techniques.

For stabilizing the dream, try to give a read to this tutorial, has some great information about the subject. Be sure to keep sharing your experiences, and question away should you have more doubts

Trying out MILD? This is how you become skilled at it.

Thanks so much for the advice Zoth00!

Yes, she was my first and favorite psychology professor, and now I'm getting ready to graduate with a psychology degree!

Oh ok, my experiences being just hypnogogic hallucinations actually makes sense to me. I was just kind of confused because I thought you had to reach sleep paralysis to get a WILD. But I'll just read the tutorial again and the one about stablization. thanks again, nice to meet you!

Pleasure to meet you, Cat14. Best of luck on your lucid dreaming, though I doubt I can provide as much advice as other members here.

I have them on occasion, though I don't recall having one recently.

I've had them for years, however.

Which alarm did you use? Also, was it one of those alarms that only beeps for a bit so you can stay perfectly still?

Hi Well actually most of the time I don't use an alarm for what I described. It happens when I wake up naturally in the early hours of the morning. But when I do use an alarm it's a normal one off my cellphone. I just turn it off quickly then work on relaxing.

Hi Cat14, It is interesting to see so many people on the net who have these lovely experiences, but in your own immediate vicinity no one gets it! I have the same situation, that's why I signed up here! Got to love the internet! Please to meet you!

So glad I read this! I always wake up, startled from this noise, thinking it was an earthquake or something. Stupid, because I live in an area where we never get earthquakes. I soon realized It is a noise that only I hear, nobody else after questioning them would have heard it. How can I stop myself from waking up when this happens?
