Hello everyone!
My name is Kevin, also known as Kmaniac101. I'm turning 18 in about 2 weeks! (Yay and boo!) I've been interested in Lucid Dreaming for the last year and a half or so, but have really gotten back into it, and have been doing things right starting this last week.
When I first got started I didn't really know too much about it, and never really learned the proper ways of checking reality, and when I performed reality checks I always knew I wasn't dreaming, so I just doubted myself. In addition to that, I was persuaded by the movie Inception to carry around a small bronze coin I have, about the size of a half dollar, that has no face on either side and is red on one side and blue on the other. If I looked at it in a dream, and saw that the colors were what they usually are, I would look away, and then look back a few seconds later to see if the colors changed. If they did, I knew I was dreaming! This worked on 2 different occasions. The results amazed me, and after only a few days I had my first Lucid dream. Unfortunately, that was my only Lucid dream.
I became extremely busy with work, family and life, and lost sight of how awesome lucid dreaming is for about a year. Occasionally I would look up a thing or two about it, but never really practiced it.
About a week ago I flew from my home in California to Georgia to stay with my grandparents for about 2 months to help take care of them. This of course leaves me with a LOT of free time, and I don't have my gaming PC, and my grandparents are mainly "indoors" people.
I have been reading and visiting on Dream Views for about a week, and have learned more in this week than I have in the last year and a half on my own. I've been doing reality checks every hour in waking life for the last 5 days, and about 3 days ago began doing the ADA technique.
Some reality checks I do are:
1. The Nose Plug
2. Thumb through Hand
3. Mental Deception (What I like to call looking at something and trying to change the color)
4. Awareness - Checking the lighting to see if it is how it is in my dreams, checking gravity.)
I do all of these every time I do one reality check.
My main issue is remembering to do reality checks in my dreams. I have always had EXTREMELY interesting and detailed dreams. Since I started getting back into LD'ing I have had remarkable dream recall. Usually I forget my dreams within the hour, but since I've started with DV I am able to remember 2-4 dreams per night, and can remember then so vividly, and clearly, even if it's just a fragment. I'm able to retain the images of things unseen by others from my dreams, and thanks to DV's dream journals, I can keep the memory of all the details of the dreams forever!
I can see that I've turned this 4 sentence introduction into a 6 paragraph essay... so I'll stop ranting. If you'd like to read some odd dreams and help me out with understanding some dream signs, and remembering to do RC's while in dreams, please check out my dream journal entry titled "Hey! Hours of Vivid Dreaming". It's a pretty odd dream I think most of the people here will get a kick out of.
Thanks, and happy dreaming!
