I want to wipe the slate clean...

      Greetings:

Thank you all for welcoming me into the forum, I’m glad to be here! A few weeks ago, I had a vivid dream about someone, a former friend who I fought bitterly with for many years. Through the years I tried and tried to make things right but was never able to. At this point we are no longer speaking or on good terms. I’ve had a few dreams about this person in the past. They usually revolve around us working together as we are former co-workers.

Then a few weeks ago, I had a dream and he was in it. We were not friendly nor were we at each others throats. We happened to run into each other

The dream went like this: I went out with a group of people (I didn’t recognize anyone in the group) and we ended up in my former friends bedroom. I don’t know if in the dream I was aware it was his bedroom. It was a nice bedroom with light wood floors, orange accents and track lighting. There is a computer there so I get on the computer to update my Linkedin account. Then my former friend comes in and everyone files out of the room accept for me as I am having trouble logging off of my computer. For once there is no tension in the room. I tell him that I will leave as soon as I log off. He nods, loosens his tie and says I should stop pushing buttons and the computer will work faster. So I stop…I ask him if he had fun at the party. He says it was okay. Finally, I am able to log off and I leave without mentioning or bringing up the past, which is something I always do. When I got home I did not email him, which is again something I usually do in real life, even though I know it is not a good idea.

I loved this dream because it was so different than how reality has been. I do not want to communicate with this person in real life as we do not get along and always end up fighting, but I would love it if the situation could be repaired even if only in my dreams. I’d like to have more chance encounter dreams where everything is okay. Dreams where weare not good friends nor are we enemies. I want the past to be wiped clean.

That is why I am here in the forum.

I also study Tarot cards and work with candles.

Again it’s great to be here!!!

Lovely, one brief comment: I think it is significant that in your dream your friend says that if you stop pushing buttons, your computer will work faster. I think the broken computer stands in for your broken relationship. I don't think it is a coincidence that there is also a saying "stop pushing my buttons" -- I think part of you may be concerned that the fact that your relationship with this friend did not work was your fault, that if only you had not pushed his buttons, it would have worked out. My thought on this: it takes two people to sustain any relationship or friendship and if the relationship does not work out, the fault is rarely just with one person. I hope you stop blaming yourself for all that went wrong, that you are able to find peace with yourself.

I also came to Dreamviews to heal. In my case the healing is from different issues than yours, but still emotional healing is needed. My healing process is already well under way both thanks to Dreamviews and thanks to my own dreams. I hope you find the same. Welcome to DV!

I agree with JoannaB. I think being in touch with your dreams is very "healing", at least on the mental level. My parents have commented that I look happier.

      JoannaB,

I never thought about trying to interpret the specifics of the dream. I was so focused on the "feeling" of relief I had in the dream.

You are right, I do blame myself. I feel that I was a bad friend at the same time I realize he wasn't exactly the greatest friend either. Still the self blame thing is in the dream clear as day. The friendship fell apart during a 10 year bad spell I had when I was just NOT myself. I do feel that I'm coming back into myself, so that will be part of my healing process. I know NOTHING about dreams/interpretations etc, but I do have a knack for remembering therm, so I think I have an advantage there.

Thank you so much for your welcome!

      Mindraker,

I can remember my dreams, but I do not know how to interpret as of yet. The dream I had about the computer and the former friend was different than my other dreams. My dreams usually have me going through something embarrassing like leaving the house with rollers in my hair or something silly like that. This dream was so vivid and "real." It felt like a sign that I can rest easy. But as Joanna pointed out, I'm still blaming myself for the demise of this friendship.

I can't wait to start working with my dreams!

      thanks for the welcome,

to dream views lovely. Im glad you joined us.

Do you plan to use lucidity to confront this person and maybe get some sort of closure?

Thank you so much for your welcome!! That’s a very good question. I’m not sure yet. First I want to get into the habit of recording my dreams. I dream every time I go to sleep, only sometimes they are not vivid and I forget most of them.

I know I would like to have more dreams where things are going right, where problems have been solved. Many times I wake up and say “whew, I’m glad that was a dream…” I want to have dreams that are so wonderful, I want to have them again.

The great thing about lucid dreaming is that anything is possible. If you can imagine it, you can call it to being. Good luck with your efforts!
