      Red face HI!

I'm a 20 year old female, and I've been trying to obtain lucidity for the past two years, i found this site a year ago but cant remember if i signed up or just read a few tutorials, anyway i have not been serious about my lucid dreams therefore i haven't been successful ,i found the site again this week while searching for dream interpretationa so i figured this must be some kind of sign to just finally sign up as a member.
I had maybe 3 or 4 fuzzy lucid dreams if that makes sense and i'm really hopping to take it up a notch and meet some people in the process here!
i have not had a "hobby" or an area of interest in a looong time, so i'm kind of excited about joining this forum!!
      cheers!

Glad you decided to sign up! This is probably one of the best hobbies you can get into. It's totally free and extremely rewarding. We're here to help if you need it.

      You are quite welcome.

So what are you current methods/techniques to improve your LDing skills? Do you have any questions?

well,I tried WILDing and tried getting to the phase of sleep paralysis and entering a dream from there, but not much luck.
I am too lazy to keep a dream journal and keep forgetting to make reality checks during the day. so the few lucid dreams i've had have been by chance and really fuzzy, i really hope "real" lucid dreams are much much better than the experiences i've had, not saying i didnt enjoy the ones i've had. but are lucid dreams really that clear and reality like? i think my lack of motivation has come from my mediocre experiences

If you are interested in WILD you may be interesting in visiting Sageous' WILD class in the DVA (Dream View Academy).

I'm really awful at remembering to reality do checks myself, someone suggested setting an alarm on your phone for ~30min-Hour until you get the hang of checking without it, but i'm worried about becoming dependant on it. Keep in mind that the reality check itself isn't what makes you lucid, it's the feelings that you experience before the reality check that's important. Look around, does everything look normal? Is everyone acting normal? Do the sensations of walking feel the same? etc, etc.. then you to confirm whether or not you are awake/dreaming.

Real Lucid dreams can be extremely vivid and reality like and very rewarding. The difference between those and the fuzzy ones you describe is like the difference between me when I have not had my morning coffee yet and me at the height of my intellectual awareness and wit. I would know because I too started out with those fuzzy ones: my very common barely lucid dreams at the beginning were like "oh I can float. Must be a dream. But I can also float in real life." and then I would just continue to float, and wake up and discover that alas I couldn't float. at the height of my lucid dreams, I would for example carefully examine my surroundings carefully, and notice such exquisite details as high quality wood and stained glass windows. I could decide to then open that window and fly out of it. I could soar through the sky and into outer space, for example.

Sadly in my experience moving from these fuzzy initial dreams to the vivid fulfilling ones did take some effort, such as a dream journal, reality checks, increasing my awareness in waking life, working on improving my memory. Of course, your mileage may vary for what works for you, but I suspect that if you want to progress beyond those fuzzy initial barely lucid dreams, you may need to put in some kind of effort. I believe based on my experience that this effort is totally worth it. Although I know where you are coming from on not wanting to put in the effort, I am just returning from years of not having practiced lucid dreaming, and While I do not remember any more why I had discontinued, it could have been that I got too busy otherwise and just didn't want to put in the effort any more. Although the better you get at lucid dreaming, the less effort it will take.
